Job Title:
Product Definition Engineer – Instrumentation
Location:
Bristol
Working Pattern:
Full-time, Hybrid
When you join our Test and Experimental Engineering (T&EE) Instrumentation Design team, you’ll play a key role in defining bespoke hardware used to test and validate some of the world’s most advanced gas turbine engines across Defence and Civil Aerospace. You’ll produce and check detailed component definitions that meet design intent and ensure they are fit for purpose and manufacturable, helping deliver precision and reliability in every engine test.
What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll contribute to the design and definition of specialist instrumentation components, ensuring they are robust, manufacturable, and meet test programme requirements. Working closely with engineers and suppliers, you’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality, right-first-time designs that support engine validation. You will also:
Create, review and check engineering drawings and 3D definitions.
Conduct tolerance stack-ups and collaborate with suppliers to optimise manufacturability.
Support continuous improvement across design processes, tools and team capability.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone with a strong foundation in product definition and a passion for getting things right first time. You’ll need solid CAD skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work proactively to meet deadlines in a complex, regulated environment. Ideally, you will have:
Experience in product definition within a regulated industry.
Proficiency in CAD tools (e.g. Siemens NX) and engineering drawing standards.
A good understanding of engine components and associated manufacturing methods.
Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking and a proactive mindset.
You must hold or be eligible for BPSS clearance. Due to the nature of our Defence work, UK nationals (or approved dual nationals) may be required.
What we offer
We offer excellent development opportunities, a competitive salary, and exceptional benefits. These include bonus, employee support assistance and employee discounts.
Your needs are as unique as you are. Hybrid working is a way in which our people can balance their time between the office, home, or another remote location. It’s a locally managed and flexed informal discretionary arrangement. As a minimum we’re all expected to attend the workplace for collaboration and other specific reasons, on average three days per week.
