Produce Manager

Purpose
The Produce Manager is responsible for leading all aspects of the Produce Department to achieve sales, margin, quality, and customer service goals. This role ensures fresh, high‑quality product, strong merchandising execution, effective inventory control, and a trained, engaged team while maintaining food safety and operational standards.

Key Responsibilities Manage daily Produce Department operations, including ordering, replenishment, and merchandising Drive sales, gross margin, and shrink control through planning and execution Ensure proper rotation, freshness, quality, and product presentation at all times Lead, train, schedule, and develop department associates Maintain compliance with food safety, sanitation, and safety standards Execute promotional programs, seasonal sets, and pricing accuracy Control inventory levels and reduce waste through proper handling and markdowns Provide excellent customer service and resolve concerns promptly Partner with store leadership to support overall store performance goals Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong knowledge of fresh produce handling and merchandising standards Effective leadership and team‑development skills Ability to analyze sales, margin, and shrink results Strong organizational and time‑management abilities Excellent communication and customer‑service skills Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required Prior produce or grocery department management experience required Knowledge of food safety and perishable inventory practices Ability to work flexible schedules, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays Working Conditions Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting Exposure to refrigerated cases and back‑room operations Fast‑paced retail grocery environment
