Procurement Specialist
Job Title: Procurement SpecialistJob Description We are seeking a dedicated Procurement Specialist responsible for acquiring materials, components, equipment, and services to support production requirements. The role involves managing inventory levels, coordinating with suppliers, and contributing to various business functions. Responsibilities + Review purchase requisitions to ensure they meet organizational needs. + Participate in 'Make-or-buy' decisions by providing supplier data and contributing to decision-making processes. + Identify potential suppliers for services, components, and equipment. + Develop or review product specifications, performance terms, and acceptance criteria. + Issue requests for bids, quotations, information, or proposals. + Evaluate competitive offerings to determine the best overall offer for products or services. + Conduct negotiations with suppliers to agree on pricing, delivery, and other terms. + Prepare and issue purchase orders to suppliers using the AS400 system. + Expedite deliveries and resolve purchase order discrepancies through the NCR process. + Apply purchasing practices in compliance with laws, policies, and ethical principles. + Maintain the Computer Purchasing Database for assigned parts and suppliers. + Communicate lead-time changes on the critical master schedule path to management and planning. + Determine material requirements and maintain inventory at planned levels. + Initiate cost-saving measures by using blanket orders and foreign suppliers. + Develop and manage effective relationships with assigned suppliers and internal departments. Essential Skills + 3-5 years of experience as a buyer in a manufacturing environment. + Experience purchasing pipes, tubes, fittings, valves, etc., in materials such as copper, brass, and stainless steel is preferred. + Experience with high-volume purchase order processing with numerous established vendors. + Knowledge of supply chain, inventory management, transportation, and facility equipment. + Ability to interface with supplier sales personnel and occasionally with higher management. + Strong sense of urgency, attention to detail, and sound judgment. + Excellent organizational, communication, and follow-up skills across various correspondence methods. + Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Familiarity with ERP and MRP systems. + Strong negotiation skills. + Sourcing experience. + Ability to develop and manage supplier relationships effectively. Work Environment The position is based in an office environment with standard working hours from Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, with flexibility for the right candidate. The dress code is business casual. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $37.00/hr.
