Hiring a Field Procurement Engineer / Procurement Administrator
Job Description
This role supports industrial construction projects by managing onsite purchasing, coordinating materials and equipment, and working closely with field teams to ensure that all required items are available on time. The position focuses on local sourcing, urgent and same-day purchasing, and effective collaboration with site personnel and vendors to keep construction activities running smoothly and cost-effectively.
Responsibilities
Handle daily onsite purchasing needs for tools, materials, consumables, and equipment rentals to support construction activities.Source materials and equipment from local vendors and national suppliers, executing urgent and same-day purchases when required.Build and maintain strong working relationships with local suppliers and rental companies to support ongoing and future project needs.Compare vendor pricing, availability, and delivery options quickly to secure the best value and meet project timelines.Arrange logistics for deliveries and pickups, ensuring materials arrive at the jobsite or warehouse when and where they are needed.Track material deliveries, verify quantities, and ensure accuracy against orders and project requirements.Coordinate with warehouse and site storage teams to organize materials and prevent shortages that could delay construction.Work closely with the superintendent, field engineers, and construction team to understand the daily work plan and anticipate material and equipment needs.Prioritize purchasing requests based on urgency, project impact, and input from internal team members.Monitor and track both small-ticket and bulk purchases, maintaining accurate records of all transactions.Keep detailed records of receipts, invoices, and vendor information to support cost control and project accounting.Support budget tracking and reporting by providing timely and accurate purchasing and cost information.Maintain purchase logs and documentation, and assist with purchase order creation as needed.Support the accounting team with reconciliation of purchases, invoices, and vendor statements.Respond quickly to urgent and time-sensitive requests, including same-day or same-hour needs for materials and equipment.Collaborate effectively in a diverse onsite environment and communicate clearly with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.Ask clarifying questions and gather detailed information from internal team members to determine purchasing priorities and requirements.Essential Skills
2–5 years of experience in construction, MEP, or field procurement roles.Proven experience working onsite on construction projects and supporting field operations.Hands-on experience with procurement and purchasing processes, including purchase orders and vendor coordination.Ability to manage both material purchasing, such as gaskets and other construction components, and equipment rentals.Familiarity with construction materials including piping, fittings, valves, electrical components, and HVAC materials.Strong documentation skills for maintaining purchase logs, receipts, invoices, and vendor information.Ability to support budget tracking, cost control, and financial reconciliation for project purchases.Ability to work effectively in a diverse environment and collaborate with field engineers, superintendents, and construction teams.Familiarity with U.S. suppliers such as large home improvement retailers and industrial suppliers, including experience sourcing from these vendors.Experience working with equipment rental companies and coordinating rental agreements, deliveries, and returns.Experience purchasing both locally and internationally, with an understanding of when international sourcing is appropriate based on schedule and cost.Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with local vendors to support current and future projects.Work Environment
This is an onsite role based in Jeffersonville, Indiana for approximately one year, supporting an industrial construction project. After this project phase, the role will transition to a new facility location in Shelbyville, with the potential for remote work once the project is completed. The position operates directly on active construction sites, working closely with superintendents, field engineers, and construction teams in a fast-paced, schedule-driven environment.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $100000.00/yr.
3 weeks PTO, 5 sick days. health insurance, 3% 401k match
