Job Title: Exam Proctor – Access and Disability ResourcesJob Description The exam proctor supports students with disabilities by administering exams in a fair, secure, and accessible testing environment, in alignment with federal disability laws and institutional policies. Working under general guidance, the proctor monitors exams, may read, write, or type on behalf of students with disabilities when required, and ensures the integrity and confidentiality of all testing materials. This is an at‑will, part‑time position that plays a key role in providing equal access to academic assessments. Responsibilities + Administer exams to students with disabilities in accordance with the standards and instructions provided by the course instructor. + Monitor students continuously throughout the exam to maintain a secure and distraction‑free testing environment. + Ensure the integrity and confidentiality of all exams, strictly following procedures for handling, storing, and returning exam materials. + Provide approved exam support accommodations, which may include reading exam questions aloud, writing or typing student responses, or assisting with technology as permitted. + Follow detailed instructions, rules, and regulations related to exam administration and disability accommodations. + Accurately track exam timing, including start and end times, and implement any approved extended time accommodations. + Communicate clearly and professionally with students, faculty, and staff regarding exam procedures and any issues that arise during testing. + Pick up and deliver exam materials between campus locations as needed, which may include traveling by campus bus. + Collaborate with the Exam Administrator or designated staff member to report concerns, irregularities, or incidents that occur during exams. + Complete required proctor training and apply learned procedures consistently in all testing situations. + Perform other duties related to exam administration and testing support as assigned. Essential Skills + Ability to sit in a testing room and maintain focused attention for up to 8 consecutive hours. + Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions, rules, and exam regulations. + Previous customer service experience, demonstrating strong people skills and professionalism. + Excellent communication skills, including active listening, clear oral communication, and accurate written communication. + Ability to maintain confidentiality and uphold the integrity of exams and student information. + Reliability and punctuality for scheduled exam shifts, including early morning and evening hours. + Ability to work under general guidance while exercising sound judgment in a testing environment. + Willingness and ability to travel between multiple campuses, including using campus transportation, to pick up and deliver exams. + Completion of required proctor training prior to independently administering exams. + Must not be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at the institution. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Recent college graduate with some work experience, particularly in roles requiring responsibility and reliability. + Experience working directly with the public or in a front‑line customer service position. + Previous work or volunteer experience in disability services is a plus. + Academic background or studies in health fields or related areas is beneficial. + Demonstrated ability to remain calm, professional, and impartial in a testing environment. + Comfort working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and with a range of disabilities. + Flexibility to accept shifts based on availability, including assignments that may be offered on a first‑come, first‑served basis. Work Environment This is an at‑will, part‑time position within an academic testing environment that supports students with disabilities. Proctors work primarily in quiet exam rooms on one or more campuses and may need to travel between campus locations, including by campus bus, to pick up and deliver exam materials. Work involves long periods of sitting and continuous monitoring of students during exams. Shifts are scheduled based on need and availability and may include early morning and evening hours. For example, training for temporary proctors may take place in the morning, followed by morning shifts (such as 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.) and evening shifts (such as 2:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.) on designated days. Proctors work under the direct supervision of an Exam Administrator or equivalent staff member in the local office and are expected to maintain a professional, quiet, and respectful atmosphere that supports focused test‑taking and upholds exam integrity. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of New Brunswick, NJ. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $15.00 - $15.49/hr.
