Location/Division Specific InformationThermo Fisher Scientifics’s Penrose facility in Auckland produces a range of cell culture media and freeze-dried powder products, which are sold under Thermo Fisher Scientific’s market leading Gibco brand and are used globally in the pharmaceutical and biotech industry.
About the Role:As a team member in the Biomanufacturing Unit, you will be directly involved with processing predominately animal blood derived material into sterile liquid and freeze-dried products. This full-time position is for a morning shift role and operates either 4:00am to 12:30pm or 06:00am to 02:30 pm, Monday to Friday based on business needs.
Key Responsibilities
Complete day-to-day production activities in conformance with standard operating procedures (SOPs)Abide by EHS policies and procedures to ensure a safe and healthy workplace environment for all.Follow Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and ISO principles.Complete Batch Manufacturing Records (BMRs), ensuring that all information is accurate, legible and correct to guarantee traceability.Perform in-process sampling and monitoring to assure batches meet specification; trouble shoot processes, procedures and product issues with the assistance of others. Perform manual handling tasks as required, which may include liquid filling, powder packaging, labelling, picking materials, product pooling, filtration activities, product packing, moving loaded trolleys and pallets throughout the facility, and other related tasks.Operate, monitor and troubleshoot machinery as required, which may include aseptic dispensing equipment, freeze dryers, labellers, water baths, autoclaves, UV systems, integrity testers, and other related machines.Perform filtration tasks as required, which may include: filter integrity testing, filter selection and set-up, filter change-outs, pH adjustment, operating clean-in-place (CIP) processes, trouble shooting, and other related tasks.Use RF scanning and manage inventory of consumables.Clean and sanitize equipment and production areas.Update and revise manufacturing documentation including SOPs and BMRs; generate ideas and practice continuous improvement in advancing quality and cost, and efficiency gains; assist and participate in investigations, projects and validation as required.Communicate production issues to Production Supervisor and/or Team Leader as they ariseKeys to Success:
Education:
A science-related qualification is optional.Experience:
Experience in cGMP manufacturing or a laboratory environment preferred. On the job training will be provided.Good mechanical proficiency.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
