Basic Qualifications

BS in Materials Science, Metallurgical, Electrical, Mechanical, Ceramic, or Chemical Engineering from an accredited institutionExperience in Investment CastingKnowledge of vacuum systems, PLCKnowledge of MS Office, excellent written and oral communication skills, able to work in a self-directed or team environment and have good organization skillsWorking knowledge of statistical analysis and SPCKnowledge of Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and Howmet Process Management a plusStrong analytical and problem-solving abilitiesThis position is located in Plant 10, Whitehall Casting, and will support the manufacture of Single Crystal and Directionally Solidified product through process control and improvement initiatives specific to the casting process.

Drive standardization and Process Management using scientific methods and six sigma tools to define the post cast process, develop reaction plans, and reduce costClose the communication loop between rework, scrap, and engineering along with the source of the problem to drive resolution and reduce costEnsure development and implementation of new materials and finishing techniques are rooted in six sigma methodology to meet the testing and equipment requirements per BU ManualsAssure meeting of the post cast finishing process MSAT per the BU Post Cast ManualAssure compliance to Customer and NADCAP requirements in the Post Cast areasAct as a conduit between Engineering and Manufacturing to assure that the Post Cast Processes are compliant with the methods, materials, and equipment specifications as required by the BU Manuals, business operating, and customer requirementsCoordinate and plan projects and resources with new vendors and customersWrite capital requests, purchasing engineering materials, manage cost and control budgets for specific post cast projects and objectivesCommunicate with other plants on cost savings and scrap reduction projects in Post CastUpdate Product Criteria and Activity Instructions as requiredApprove all new and revised instructions for the Post Cast AreaCoordinate operator training as required
