Process Engineer
**_What’s the job?_** The Process Engineer in our Roofing Plant supports the Production, Quality and Continuous Improvement teams with refining and optimizing manufacturing processes to ensure maximum efficiency, reliability, and product quality. This role will apply engineering principles, statistical process control (SPC), and Lean methodologies to reduce variation, improve yields, minimize waste, and support continuous improvement initiatives across the roofing manufacturing operation. **Safety & Environmental** + Promote and maintain a strong safety culture; ensure strict adherence to all company safety policies and regulatory requirements. + Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments; actively participate in incident and near-miss investigations to determine root causes and corrective actions. + Support environmental compliance through adherence to waste management, recycling responsibilities, and reporting requirements. **Process Optimization & Quality** + Analyze production data and apply SPC, DOE, and other statistical tools to identify and eliminate process variation. + Develop, configure, and optimize industrial processes from inception through startup and stabilization. + Partner with operations, maintenance, and quality teams to troubleshoot issues, implement corrective/preventive actions (CAPA), and improve process capability. + Conduct process flow studies and system simulations to identify bottlenecks and improvement opportunities. + Provide clear process documentation, operating instructions, and training to hourly and salaried teammates. **Continuous Improvement** + Lead and support Lean, Six Sigma, and TPM initiatives to drive cost reduction, yield improvement, and throughput gains. + Introduce and integrate new technologies, raw materials, and methods to improve efficiency and product performance. + Plan, coordinate, and evaluate production trials in collaboration with suppliers, vendors, and internal stakeholders. + Work closely with cross functional teams to ensure consistent SPC deployment and process monitoring. + Coordinate with Engineering teams on capital projects that increase the efficiency of the production line **Collaboration & Leadership** + Build strong cross-functional relationships to drive teamwork and problem-solving. + Mentor and coach team members in best practices for process control, quality, and efficiency. + Collaborate with all levels of plant personnel to support various projects and continuous improvement initiatives. + Lead site project implementations and sharing of best practices. - - **_What do you bring?_** + Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field. + Minimum 3+ years in manufacturing or process engineering (co-op/internship experience considered). + Experience in roofing, building materials manufacturing preferred. + Proficient in statistical tools, and data-driven problem-solving. + Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and project management skills. + CAD/AutoCAD or process engineering software experience preferred. + Excellent interpersonal, communication, and training skills. + Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. **Come be a part of our bigger purpose to change the world!** **_Why work for us?_** At Saint-Gobain/CertainTeed, our employees have pride in belonging to an organization whose culture is made up of these core values: Trust, Empowerment, & Collaboration.
