Description
Actalent's client, a mid-sized EPCM is looking for a Process Engineer who will be responsible for delivering high-quality engineering work that complies with all applicable codes and regulations. The successful candidate will coordinate with project teams to ensure designs are completed on time and within budget, while maintaining a strong focus on safety and technical excellence.
Responsibilities:
This role involves preparing process simulations, conceptual and FEED studies, and supporting process safety reviews such as HAZOP and LOPA. The engineer will generate key deliverables including PFDs, heat and material balances, and P&IDs, and will be responsible for equipment design, sizing, and selection.
Additional responsibilities include supporting procurement activities, reviewing vendor information, and providing process data for instrumentation and line sizing. The engineer will also participate in 3D model reviews, prepare operating manuals, and review fabrication drawings.
Mentorship of junior engineers, peer reviews, and collaboration with other disciplines are essential parts of the role. The engineer will also attend client meetings, conduct shop walk-downs, and troubleshoot existing plant operations as needed. P.Eng. stamping may be required for certain deliverables.

Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, capable of clearly relaying technical concepts to non-technical clients.

Experience in applying fundamental concepts and procedures to resolve problems
Ensure process engineering deliverables meet high standards and comply with applicable codes and regulations.
Generate and review key process documents such as PFDs, heat and material balances, and P&IDs.
Perform process simulations and support conceptual and FEED studies.
Design, size, and select process equipment (e.g., vessels, towers, exchangers).
Participate in and support process safety studies (HAZOP, HAZID, SIL, LOPA).
Coordinate with project managers, other engineers, and disciplines to ensure alignment with project scope and schedule.
Skills & Qualifications
Must Haves:
5+ years in Process Engineering with a gas processing focus
B.Sc. in Chemical Engineering
P.Eng Designation (or ability to achieve within a year)
5+ years of experience working with HYSYS and/or Flarenet, Promax, Aspen Exchanger Design & HTRI
Strong knowledge in process simulations, equipment sizing and P&ID development for front end design & detailed engineering
Nice to Haves:
Formal experience at a competitor/industry projects
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $44.00 - $62.50/hr.
