Process Development Manager
Job Description + Develop new material sources and translate existing materials into new applications utilizing technical expertise in materials, glass science, mineral processing, or chemical engineering to meet new market/application demands. + Lead process improvement projects on mineral purification processes with cross-functional teams and external validation partners. Responsibilities include IP research, voice of customer and customer requirement determination, feasibility testing, prototyping, gauge development, pilot testing, cost analysis and scale up to manufacturing. + Apply project management skills in planning, budgeting, time management, resource allocation, and risk management. + Generate intellectual properties such as patents, publications, and internal reports. Also, support commercial and manufacturing teams. + Responsible for new process development in high purity sand and tungsten for the fused quartz business + Apply Six Sigma type methodology, statistical, surface and materials characterization tools for process improvement, failure analysis and troubleshooting. Must Have + Bachelor's Degree in Material Science, Glass Science, Mineral processing, Geology or Chemical engineering + 5+ years of hands-on experience within the geological, glass or quartz industries + Managerial experience + Proficient in statistical design and analysis of experimental data including design of experiment, hypothesis testing and Gage R&R + Project/Product management experience Nice to Have + Expertise in sand beneficiation, hot chlorination, calcination, & other mineral processing methods + Familiarity with processing of refractory metals, including sintering and machining + Experience designing equipment for solids processing + Understanding and experience with batch and continuous processes + Experience with, or design of, quartz fusion processes including electric fusion, arc fusion and flame fusion or vapor deposition + Mechanical and or thermal design modelling using SolidWorks + Six Sigma training and/or certifications preferred Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $160000.00 - $170000.00/yr.
