Wood is recruiting for a process designer to join its Iraq business unit focusing on contributing to technical delivery of engineering for a major onshore brownfield project in Basra, Iraq on 6/1 rotation.

This role is a full-time on-site role in Kirkuk, Iraq with travel requirements.

Contributes to engineering excellence by providing the link between engineering design theory and practical application, translating critical design concepts into workable plans for tangible end-products.

Prepares engineering drawings in their discipline area from rough sketches or from general engineering and design information according to established standards and procedures Creates designs and sketches out detailed plans for projects such as commercial, industrial, and civil sector structures and plant and/or manufactured products and systems Plans and carries out technical assignments of substantial variety and complexity. Capable of handling assignments which involve a variety of procedures and techniques Undertakes technical assignments that are a significant part of an ongoing engineering program Prepares mechanical or digital drawings, diagrams or blueprints and/or models of various products or structures, using computer-aided drafting (CAD) and/or computer-aided drafting and design (CADD) software Key accountabilities and responsibilities Develops working drawings, in compliance with company and industry standards and codes, from equipment specifications and detailed drawings to support completion of engineering deliverables Creates drawings involving plans, layouts, schematics, installation details, arrangements, etc. Assists in the production of calculations, schedules and bills of material Works on assignments involving a variety of design procedures and techniques Records observations, performs calculations and prepares reports on assignments Performs design and checking work from the basic data supplied and the application of fundamental engineering principles Follows project drafting standards Identifies cost-effective solutions to design problems Designs 3D models At more experienced levels, may act as coordinators on small projects, checking and reviewing design documents Carries out site visits and surveys and provides inputs to site visit reports Plans assigned work effectively and obtains/provides information liaising with the project team and line manager, in time to control man-hours and achieve targets Working relationships

Internal:

Interfaces regularly with discipline engineers, project engineers, project management

External:

Unlikely to be required to interface with external parties Level of influence and decision-making authority Works under the general supervision of a senior engineer/design supervisor Has some autonomy to exercise judgment in application Work is checked and verified by more senior personnel Qualifications

Expected:

Minimum ISCED level 5 short-cycle tertiary education/diploma in engineering discipline

Knowledge, skills and experience:

A full understanding of the materials and methods normally used in their discipline An understanding of related engineering principles and practices, plus training and diversified experience in the field of activity is required Capable of interpreting key discipline documents Technically oriented, good at mathematics Competent user of CAD/D software
