PROCESS CONTROL ENGINEER / (SPECIALIST)
CAREER OPPORTUNITY
The Process Control Engineer position: Provides day-to-day technical and engineering expertise on the Covington Mill process control systems. This role will be primarily responsible for the Paper Machine Web Inspection System but will also support Distributive Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Quality Control Systems (QCS), as well as many custom control applications used to meet the manufacturing needs and production goals.
HOW YOU WILL IMPACT WESTROCK
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on the hardware and software that comprise Covington’s Control systemsAssists with the design and implements new hardware and software packages to improve production, quality, safety, productivity and operation of the Covington millWork independently and in conjunction with vendor personnel to optimize tuning on Control systemsAssists in capital projects with other company personnel, consultants, and contractorsProvides Control system expertise and is responsible for startup coverage and operation training. Perform appropriate planning to prevent project delaysInteracts with members of operations, engineering, quality and technical team to address Control system needs and implement the changeInteracts with operations and maintenance to improve performance and controller reliability and stabilityMake direct impact on the production quality and cost structureInteracts with area maintenance coordinators and planners to ensure optimal communication of maintenance needs for the systemMaintains professional competence and knowledge in Control systems, controls industry and in the manufacturing process
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
A minimum of 2 years’ technical, computer, industrial or electrical engineering degree preferred or similar work experience with demonstrated skills will be considered.5+ years of industrial manufacturing experience desiredPrevious experience with the following systems preferred. (Metso, ISYS, Cognex, Valmet, Proficy/PI, Opti vision, and HD/VG camera technology).Background in any of the following control systems desired. (Honeywell TDC3000, Foxboro I/A, Siemens PCS7, Metso DNA, Rockwell)Strong background in Ethernet communications and Networks is desired.Must be willing to perform in an on-call environment, including weekends, and some shift workDemonstrated skill in electronic hardware and software troubleshootingExcellent project and time management skillsDemonstrated problem solving skills with ability to analyze data and recommend solutionsDemonstrated ability to work well in cross functional teams as a member or as a team leaderProvide technical guidance/training to others in the mill that include but not limited to: Engineers, Operators, E&I Journeyman, and contractors.All these items need to be executed safely while following company policies and protocol.
