Process Compounder for Prototyping UUHP/RACE

**Primary Purpose of the Position**
The IPL process compounder primary focus is to provide technical expertise to drive following area:
+ Compound development projects with cross-functional teams to deliver new technologies and capabilities supporting future Global Product and Technology development needs.
+ Transform/Adapt standard book sheet created for internal mixer to the continuous mixing process of a Twin-Screw Extruder (TSE).
+ Create book sheet in GP3 and mixing / set-up cards for the TSE process.
+ Integrity of materials and cure process in IPL manufacturing service, release of compounds, ageing time controls of green material, analysis of green/cure waste and drive improvement.
+ Extrusion process development, supporting IPL experimental projects.
+ Development of new manufacturing processes, linked to compound and treatment development, or linked to new concept like DPA/CPA (Differentiated Product Appearance) in collaboration with GMS, GE, Sister plant, Regional Quality and ensure a smooth technology transfer to plants.
+ Processability of scale-up experimental compound mixing in IPL and external mixing center, ensure robust knowledge sharing and transfer process. The senior engineer is the advisor for mixing methodology to the GMS community of compounders.
+ Knowledge / Compliance to Goodyear quality requirement, procedures, and specifications.
+ Drive internal & external audits to suppliers. SIS/CAR ….
+ Drive the target of “zero complaint” from internal and external customer.
**Principle Duties & Responsibilities**
**IPL Experimental tire manufacturing:**
+ Monitor & Optimize quality in Mixing, Stock Prep & Curing, at minimum cost & waste, in collaboration with other IPL and GIC*L groups.
+ Establish machine / working specs, systems & procedures accordingly.
+ Communicate on materials requirements & quality with the Goodyear and external suppliers, request root cause analysis, audit when applicable.
+ Provide technical assistance for materials and process related items (e.g. improvement & trouble shooting; acceptance criteria, age limits; training).
+ Pursue an active green waste reduction program.
**Manufacturing process development (mixing and curing):**
+ Leverage compounding and processing expertise to contribute to the mixing/curing process development in collaboration with all stakeholder IPL, GMS, product development team, Regional Quality.
+ Ensures robust knowledge sharing and contribute to the transfer of manufacturing process when technology is mature.
+ Act as Braincube expert for IPL.
**Development and production of compound (Silver/TSR and external mixing center):**
+ Provide onsite assistance for trouble shooting, participate to root cause analysis in materials area in liaison with other functions.
+ Contribute to feasibility studies and PFMEA sessions.
+ Act as primary IPL contact person for technical issues that may occur in the large-scale processing area (IPL and external mixing center). Resolve partners' requests that may require special mixing setup. Provide recommendation of mixing card update.
+ Instruct processing technicians at internal and external facilities on mixing scale up and guide trouble shooting.
**Quality Assurance:**
+ Ensure compliance with GQMTS
+ Lead internal and external audit related to Mixing/Curing.
**To join our team, you will need:**
**Education & Certifications**
+ A bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science or a related field is required.
+ A master’s degree in chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science or a related field is advantageous.
**Experience**
+ Experience in rubber compound analytical data interpretation (physical properties, chemical composition, forensics reports).
+ Tire plant experience in mixing/component preparation with tire production processes, min 5 years.
+ Proficiency in the statistical design and analysis of data.
**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**
+ Knowledge of polymers, fillers, and/or reinforced composites.
+ Experience in elastomeric formulations scale-up.
+ Strong ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.
+ Exceptional communication and technical documentation.
+ Open minded, dynamic, and collaborative spirit with a strong sense of urgency.
+ Ability to travel (10 %) within Europe.
+ Fluency in English.
