By joining the OR team an RN, you will cover a variety of services and provide care to both ambulatory patients and inpatients. This dual role will allow you to both scrub and circulate within the OR. RNs on this team will be able to maintain and grow their skills further while working in a flexible PRN role that offers a great work-life balance.

Our Center for Workplace Violence Prevention and Caregiver Well-Being sets caregiver safety as a priority, identifying, reporting and responding to incidents and providing safety resources. 

This is a regular PRN position, with caregivers working day/evening/night/weekend shifts between 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. or 9:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Provide nursing care in an operative setting to patients undergoing surgical or invasive procedures.  

Perform scrub functions including the selection and handling of instruments and supplies used during procedure. 

Perform circulating functions including monitoring, recording and communicating patient condition and managing overall nursing care of patient before, during and after procedure. 

Prepare the OR, surgical instruments and equipment for use.  

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (ADN or BSN program) 

Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) 

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross 

Internal applicants: one year of recent related clinical experience 

External applicants: two years of recent related clinical experience 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: 

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) 

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross - If you do not hold this certification, you must obtain it within six months of hire 

Two years of experience with circulating and scrubbing

Physical Requirements:

Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.

Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.

Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 25 pounds and ability to push, pull, and navigate supply carts weighing > 75 pounds periodically.

Personal Protective Equipment:

Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
