A Privacy Analyst within the Law Department will be effective in providing guidance to business and functional leaders across a number of markets with responsibility on a range of data privacy matters primarily in Colombia, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Costa Rica , and other Latin American markets (hereinafter “in-scope markets”).
Reporting to the Regional Privacy Manager, this position will require a person of integrity, commitment, maturity and judgment. Responsibilities will include: conducting data privacy impact assessments for local projects and initiatives, identifying gaps and working with business stakeholders to create action plans to mitigate privacy risks, effectively building and maintaining strong internal relations at a senior management level within the relevant markets; providing pragmatic guidance and recommendation of data privacy strategy, policy, and practice for the family of PMI products to the senior market and regional management and other members of the legal department, providing trusted business partnership and counselling on the implementation of new privacy laws and guidance for in-scope markets; demonstrating an inclusive, consultative and thoughtful approach to achieving privacy compliance; ensuring that privacy services provided are cost-effective, practical, strategic, and consistent with the company’s philosophies and global practices where possible; and ensuring that PMI implement leading privacy practices and operates at the highest ethical standards.
Key Responsibilities
• Consult with and advise the Company on appropriate legal requirements and risks related to privacy.
• Counsel and advise management and various legal, IT security, and business teams on mitigating privacy risks. Help business teams to understand the risks and consequences of the given activities or course of action.
• Conduct data protection impact assessments for new projects.
• Monitor evolving laws, regulations, and best practices in the areas of privacy in in-scope markets to help identify critical legal issues and practical compliance solutions for the Company.
• Translate privacy laws and regulations into practical technical and operational legal requirements while working closely and coordinating with information security and technology teams.
• Work closely with internal business partners to understand their business processes, applications, projects, and technologies to ensure compliance with relevant global privacy laws, regulations, and best practices.
• Help design and embed privacy requirements and controls into projects, products, technologies, initiatives, and services throughout the Company.
• Build on a mature privacy program whilst evolving and implementing effective local strategies, policies, notices, standards, controls, and training materials in the areas of privacy.
• Identify and advise on legal and compliance issues arising out of various internal and external privacy audits, assessments, tests, reviews, and ongoing program improvement efforts.
Who we are looking fo
• Bachelor’s degree preferred Legal background.
• 3+ years of experience in a privacy, information security, compliance or risk role.
• Knowledge of relevant data privacy laws, regulations, and best practices will be an advantage. Privacy qualification is a plus.
• Fluent in English and Spanish, communicates effectively in both languages.
