Job Description
The Prior Authorization Specialist plays a crucial role in our department's success by expertly arranging timely and accurate referrals and obtaining pre-authorizations from insurance companies. This ensures that patients can swiftly access the vital treatment they need.
ResponsibilitiesReceive and process prior authorizations required for treatment.Obtain insurance pre-authorization for patients and re-authorization for additional treatments.Ensure insurance carrier documentation requirements are met.Efficiently manage correspondence with the clinical team and insurance carriers.Collaborate with the entire revenue cycle team to improve processes and prevent financial toxicity for patients.Maintain appropriate reports to accommodate transitioning patient and payer needs.Essential SkillsExperience in medical and administrative tasks.Knowledge in healthcare, patient scheduling, and patient registration.Proficiency in medical scheduling and understanding of healthcare and medical insurance.Experience with insurance denials, medical reception, and patient coordination.Additional Skills & Qualifications2 years of experience in Prior Authorization or Medical Billing preferred.Experience in detail-oriented positions is beneficial.Familiarity with medical terminology is advantageous.Basic computer skills and EMR data entry experience.Exceptional attention to detail and communication skills.Ability to work independently in a heads-down environment, with minimal face-to-face patient interaction.Strong time management skills and ability to create and maintain efficient processes.Positive attitude and understanding of the impact of work on patient outcomes.Work Environment
The role is based in a business office in downtown Salem, working Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm. The position involves collaborating with a team of other Prior Authorization Specialists. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Salem, OR.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $21.15 - $24.01/hr.
