Printed Circuit Board (PCB) Engineer

Generac Power Systems is seeking a skilled PCB (printed circuit boards) layout engineer I and PCB librarian to join the Generac Clean Energy Solutions electrical engineering team. This position will be based in Reno, NV, Billerica, MA, Waukesha, WI or South Portland, Maine. The successful candidate will create high quality PCBs for electronics systems including power conversion and mixed signals (digital, analog, RF, control) products. They will create and update schematic symbols and PCB footprints in libraries for power electronics and control circuits. They will design and develop cost effective and highly manufacturable PCBs, from prototype to production releases of power converters and related products, under the direction of a Senior PCB Engineer or Electrical Engineers. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: + Collaborate with electrical and mechanical engineers to create schematics and define board architecture. + Design multi-layer PCB layouts from schematics using Altium Designer. + Perform component placement, routing, and stack-up design according to electrical, mechanical, and signal integrity requirements. + Conduct PCB layout reviews and address layout issues in coordination with electrical, mechanical, test, supply chain, and manufacturing teams + Generate manufacturing documentation including Gerber files, BOM, assembly drawings, and fabrication notes. + Create and maintain design libraries and documentation including schematic symbols and PCB footprints creation, in accordance with internal processes and standards + Create and submit engineering change notices and deviations in PLM + Ensure adherence to best practices for DFM, DFA and DFT + Work efficiently and quickly with new part requests Minimal Qualifications: + Engineering Degree + 2+ years of relevant PCB layout and library management experience + Proficiency with PCB CAD tools (e.g. Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro or Mentor Graphics) + Familiarity with surface mount and PTH technology components + Familiarity with PCB fabrication processes, materials and standards Preferred Qualifications: + 3 or more years of experience with Altium Designer in both schematic capture and PCB layout of complex, multi-layer PCBs + Knowledge of basic electronic components, circuits, and their function + Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, diagrams and mechanical drawings + Experience with component library creation and maintenance + Experience with EMC/EMI design and mitigation techniques + Experience with thermal and mechanical layout constraints + Familiarity with power, high-speed analog and digital layout considerations + Familiarity with ECAD and MCAD codesign tools and processes + Familiarity with Design for Test (DFT) + Familiarity with Design for Manufacturability (DFM) + Familiarity with Design for Assembly (DFA) Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: + Excellent written and verbal communication skills + Strong problem solving and analytical skills + Ability to perform detail-oriented work with a high degree of accuracy + Ability to manage multiple tasks while meeting project deadlines + Ability to translate technical information to all audiences + Enthusiasm for learning and engagement with disciplines outside of comfort zone **Physical Demands** : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls.
