Key job responsibilities
- Lead UX Strategy. Define and drive the long-term user experience vision, ensuring alignment with product and business goals.
- Own End-to-End Design. Oversee the full design process from discovery and research through execution, launch, and iteration.
- Advance Design Systems. Develop, scale, and maintain design systems that improve efficiency, consistency, and quality across products.
- Collaborate Across Functions. Partner closely with Product, Engineering, and other stakeholders to shape requirements and deliver innovative, feasible solutions.
- Champion User-Centered Design. Integrate qualitative and quantitative research insights into decision-making to create intuitive, inclusive, and accessible experiences.
- Mentor and Elevate Teams. Coach designers at all levels, fostering growth, design excellence, and a culture of continuous improvement.
- Influence at Scale. Present design strategies and decisions to executives, shaping product direction and advocating for user needs at the highest levels.
A day in the life
You drive strategic initiatives by aligning with cross-functional leaders to establish clear priorities and roadmap planning, ensuring your design vision supports broader organizational goals. Through regular high-level design critiques and collaborative sessions, you help shape and refine design direction, translating complex research insights into actionable solutions that resonate with users. Your role involves close partnership with engineering teams to assess technical feasibility and establish realistic timelines while creating and iterating on concepts, wireframes, and prototypes that bring your vision to life.
A significant part of your impact comes from presenting compelling design strategies to executive stakeholders, securing buy-in for innovative approaches while maintaining and scaling design systems. You take pride in mentoring and coaching designers across all experience levels, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous learning. By staying at the forefront of emerging technologies and ensuring your solutions meet rigorous accessibility and quality standards, you help your team deliver exceptional user experiences that drive business value. Basic Qualifications
- 10+ years of UX/product design experience, with leadership on complex projects
- A portfolio demonstrating strategic thinking and shipped, high-impact products
- Expertise in design systems, prototyping, and accessibility (WCAG 2.1 AA or equivalent)
- Mastery of tools like Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite; familiarity with HTML/CSS/JS
- Experience mentoring designers and leading design initiatives
Preferred Qualifications
- Graduate degree in Design, HCI, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Proven ability to influence product strategy and drive cross-functional alignment
- Comfortable working in Agile/iterative development environments
- Exceptional communication and presentation skills for executive and stakeholder audiences
- Experience with emerging technologies (AI/ML, voice interfaces)
- Track record of published talks, articles, or industry thought leadership
- Deep experience scaling and governing enterprise-level design systems
- Strong UX research skills and ability to integrate insights into strategy
- Global product design experience, including localization and cultural adaptation
- Proven success in influencing at the VP/C-suite level
- Background in service design or complex multi-touchpoint ecosystems

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $147,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $244,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
