Collins Aerospace is currently seeking qualified candidates for an experienced Principal Systems Engineer - Program Lead role for the Special Operations Aircraft (SOA) and UH-60M programs in our Military Avionics Flight Management Applications department based out of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Our teams are comprised of cross-functional engineers working in an AGILE environment focused on the design and development of Flight Management Software Applications.

**What You Will Do:**
This job will encompass being both a Systems and Project Engineer (i.e., subsystems team lead), representing the flight management and controls department. Specific expectations include:
+ Demonstrated time management skills - ability to work unsupervised, multi-task, and coordinate work.
+ Accountable for managing scope, schedule, cost, and quality for a large, high-visibility program.
+ Provide daily support of cross-functional teams executing development work.
+ Organize, document, and communicate to teams all relevant program resources, processes, and updates.
+ Coordinate with program team and other subsystem teams to identify and collaborate on dependencies.
+ Actively manage risks & opportunities to identify areas of concerns, cost/schedule impacts, and come up with and execute mitigation strategies.
+ Lead bidding and estimating efforts, including:
+ Lead technical scope breakdown and initial design
+ Identify and communicate required resources and external dependencies
+ Coordinate SME engagement for estimates
+ Aggregating estimates
+ Risk and Opportunity identification, quantification, and mitigation plans
+ Presenting to and getting approval from Level 5 and Level 4 management
+ Finalizing bid in BidMaster Web (BMW)
+ Decompose platform designs/requirements into subsystem designs ready for execution
+ Perform initial software issue investigation efforts to identify replication scenarios and operational impact
+ Be able to demonstrate the replication of issues to the development teams and the resolution of issues or completion of features to the program team
+ Perform subsystem verification tasks to ensure expected product performance is met before delivering to the platform team
+ Lead technical and operational conversations with program team and external customers
+ Onboard and train new engineers on cognizant program(s)
This position requires the commitment of professional working hours that may require the employee to extend beyond a typical 7:30am to 4:30pm workday, or beyond a 40-hour work week.
**Qualifications You Must Have:**
+ Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience.
+ Willingness to travel (domestic and international <20%).
+ Strong technical skills, specifically in systems development.
+ Avionics experience (development or usage).
+ Software development and testing experience.
**Qualifications We Prefer:**
+ AGILE development experience.
+ Excellent, proactive communication (written, verbal, and interpersonal).
+ Demonstrated earned value management experience.
+ Project schedule creation and management.
+ ARP4754 and DO-178 (or similar) certification-based development experience.
+ JIRA experience.

The salary range for this role is 101,000 USD - 203,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
