Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond. **Responsibilities** **Focus Areas:** + Early engagement with suppliers, network architecture and engineering teams to identify optimization opportunities and drive product solutions around design for availability and TCO. + Establishment of appropriate sourcing strategy with relevant partners to drive long-term goals of Technology Adoption, COS (Continuity of Supply), cost, Quality, Business Health and Sustainability + Found and deliver supplier relationship management strategies tuned to each supplier. + Drive RFP selection process through analysis of supplier capabilities. + Provide thought leadership and manage strategic initiatives with internal stakeholders and suppliers to support cloud supply chain objectives and strategies **Responsibilities:** Sourcing management + Engage with cross- functional leadership including Network architecture, engineering, quality, and business teams to determine design solution and supply base to deliver that solution at optimal SC, COS, and cost. + Own the Datacenter Switch technical sourcing strategy, partnering with product engineering teams on high visibility technology developments and delivery of innovative solutions + Lead industry initiatives and innovate on business models to deliver best in cloud solutions + Define RFQ / RFP activities and conduct negotiations with suppliers. + Manage contracting activities with Legal and ensure contracts reflect appropriate business terms, IP protection, etc. Cost and operations management + Build multi-sourcing strategies to mitigate risk and drive appropriate competition. + Identify cost reduction opportunities and drive supplier competition with cost modelling and other sourcing tools. + Run weekly, monthly, quarter review with team on cost and operations KPIs + Continuous improvement of all critical areas around supply, mfg., cost, etc. Manage supplier performance and compliance + Develop and enable new suppliers + Ensure supplier compliance with MSFT security and social responsibility requirements + Conduct Executive Business Review discussions + Ensure on time supplier delivery of corrective actions from business review / audits + Support and meet business cost metrics through the development process + Embody our culture (https://careers.microsoft.com/v2/global/en/culture) and values. (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/about/corporate-values) **Qualifications** **Minimum Qualifications:** + Master's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Materials Science, or related field AND 6+ years experience in procurement, supply chain, sourcing, engineering, operations, or relevant sales-related roles + OR Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Materials Science, or related field AND 8+ years experience in procurement, supply chain, sourcing, engineering, operations, or relevant sales-related roles + OR equivalent experience. + 3+ years of working with networking optics. **Other Requirements:** Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings: + Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. **Preferred Qualifications:** + Cloud / high tech supply chain experience + Extensive knowledge in hardware sourcing and supply chain + Demonstrated track record in supplier negotiation and management + Proficient influencing skills and ability to build lasting relationships across multiple layers in the organization + Proficient communication and synthesizing skills of both written and verbal + Able to generate quality outputs using Microsoft tools (Word, Excel modeling, Power Point slides). Sourcing Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $139,900 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year.
