Principal Solutions Architect - Cloud

**ABOUT LINGO**
Lingo is building a cutting‑edge digital health platform that fuses continuous biosensor data, high‑performance backend engineering, and advanced analytics to help people live healthier, longer, fuller lives. Our systems process massive volumes of real‑time data, and the backend is the heartbeat of the platform.
**THE OPPORTUNITY**
Lead the solution architecture for scalable, cloud‑native backend and platform components that power Lingo’s real‑time biosensor platform. You will define reference architectures, guide service boundaries and integration patterns, and ensure reliability, performance, and security across multi‑region deployments. You’ll partner closely with Backend, Mobile, Data, and Platform/SRE teams to turn product goals into robust, secure, and compliant solutions in production Kubernetes environments with event‑driven integrations and APIs. You will stay hands‑on enough to review designs, run critical design/code reviews, and create proofs‑of‑concept, while engineering teams own day‑to‑day implementation. Compliance‑by‑design and auditable controls are foundational in this role.
**WHAT YOU’LL DO**
+ Define and evolve reference architectures and patterns for microservices, APIs, and event‑driven integrations; document solution designs, ADRs, and interface contracts that scale globally.
+ Architect multi‑region deployments and traffic management on Kubernetes and service meshes, align runtime requirements (HA/DR, resiliency, rollout strategies) with Platform/SRE.
+ Design integration patterns using high‑throughput messaging/streaming (eg.: Kafka/RabbitMQ), ensure idempotency, backpressure, and reliable delivery for real‑time data flows.
+ Establish API strategy: versioning, schema evolution, compatibility guidelines, and gateway/edge considerations (authn/z, rate limiting).
+ Collaborate with Product to define non‑functional requirements (availability, latency, throughput, cost) and partner with SRE on observability, incident response readiness, and capacity planning.
+ Champion security and privacy‑by‑design: threat modeling, data protection, secrets management, PII handling, and auditability to meet CCPA/SOC2/HIPAA/GDPR expectations.
+ Collaborate with Product and engineering leads to shape build‑vs‑buy decisions, align to roadmaps, and de‑risk delivery with POCs and phased rollouts.
+ Mentor engineers and participate in architecture/design reviews to uphold standards and technical excellence.
+ Coordinate with Data/ML teams on event and data interfaces, ensure backend solutions interoperate cleanly with analytics and streaming pipelines.
**REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS**
+ 10+ years in backend engineering/cloud architecture for distributed systems and microservices, with strong experience in cloud‑native designs on Kubernetes and service meshes.
+ Deep knowledge of API design (REST, familiarity with GraphQL/gRPC) and event‑driven architectures, hands‑on with high‑throughput messaging/streaming (Kafka/RabbitMQ).
+ Proven experience architecting multi‑region, highly available, low‑latency systems in production.
+ Security and privacy‑by‑design mindset, experience delivering compliant, auditable solutions in regulated contexts (e.g., HIPAA/GDPR).
+ Excellent cross‑functional leadership and communication, ability to turn product goals into clear architectures, roadmaps, and implementation guidance.
+ Technical credibility in the JVM ecosystem (Java/Kotlin) to support design/code reviews and POCs, day‑to‑day coding not required.
**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS**
+ Experience with API gateways, service‑to‑service authn/z, rate limiting, and tracing‑driven observability at scale [2].
+ Background integrating with data/analytics platforms and event pipelines (eg.: Kafka into analytics stores), and familiarity with streaming/ML serving patterns.
+ Experience in digital health, IoT, or other regulated, high‑availability environments.
+ Cost‑aware architecture and reliability patterns (blue/green, canary, graceful degradation) for global services.
**LINGO CULTURE**
Customer‑first, quality‑driven, growth‑minded, and united. You’ll set a high bar for reliability and developer experience so teams can ship fast and safely while protecting user trust.
