KBR is seeking a highly motivated Software Engineer to join us in supporting our great nation, supporting Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) development team in Colorado Springs, CO.
In this position, you will be responsible for the continued design and development of database models and backend-for-frontend software development. Additional responsibilities include interfacing with engineering partners from both private and government organizations, as well as direct communication with government stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, engineer, analyze, and develop software as part of a multi-disciplinary teamDevelop software architectures that align the system and customer requirementsEngage with customers to better define the problem space and vision to determine capabilities and prioritiesWork across multiple technology stacks, various languages, frameworks, and tools to support a broad range of applicationsWork with DevOps and Cyber Security teams to ensure software development efforts align with the objectives of the larger teamWork Environment:

Security Clearance: Must have an active U.S. government Top Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain SCI SI/TK, which is something only a U.S. citizen can obtainExperience and Education: MS degree in Computer Science or Information Systems. Other degrees will be considered with relevant work experienceAdvanced proficiency in Java, and Java frameworks such as Spring Boot and QuarkusExperience with Python, C++Experience with Docker, AWS and / or Azure, and Kubernetes for containerization, cloud services, and orchestrationHands-on experience with Apache Kafka, Apache NiFiExperience developing software interfaces for Link 16 and JREAP-C messagesExperience developing applications that interface with multiple message types, such as xml, and protocol buffers (protobuf)Ability to work independently to research and solve customer pain pointsStrong passion for conducting research, tackling complex problems, and continuously learning and adopting new technologiesProficient in using GitLab for version control, CI/CD pipelines, and collaborationExperienced in implementing Agile Software Development methodologies for efficient and iterative project managementPassion for conducting research, tackling complex problems, and continuously learning and adopting new technologies MUST live within 1 hour of Colorado Springs, CO. The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.
Additional Compensation:
KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels, per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of sign on bonus, relocation benefits, short term incentives, long term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
