In this role, you will serve as a technical leader driving secure software design, automation, and architectural decisions that shape the future of our communication and cyber intelligence programs. As a Principal Software Engineer, you will define and guide the technical direction for secure, scalable software systems in C4I&A programs. You will ensure that security, automation, and reliability are integrated into architecture and processes across multiple teams and projects. You will act as a subject matter expert, mentor, and trusted advisor to both engineers and leadership. This position will sit at our **Aguadilla, PR** location. You must be residing in Puerto Rico at the time of starting employment. Relocation is not offered. This role is categorized as **hybrid** , with 3 days onsite and 2 days remote following the schedule assigned by the Manager. **What YOU will do:** + Architecture & Strategy: Define secure software architectures and establish best practices for development, integration, and automation across projects. + Leadership: Provide technical leadership across multiple teams, ensuring alignment with program goals and industry standards. + Secure Development & Automation: Oversee the design and delivery of automated pipelines, testing frameworks, and deployment strategies. + Collaboration & Influence: Partner with senior engineers, program managers, and stakeholders to ensure security and reliability in all phases of the lifecycle. + Risk Management: Lead efforts to identify, mitigate, and communicate software and security risks at a program-wide level. + Mentorship & Knowledge Sharing: Mentor senior and junior engineers, promoting technical excellence and continuous improvement. + Innovation: Evaluate and adopt new technologies, frameworks, and practices that enhance security, scalability, and efficiency. + Compliance & Standards: Ensure all software meets Collins Aerospace development processes, contractual requirements, and regulatory standards. **What YOU will learn:** + You will learn about our growing engineering team in Puerto Rico; What we do?
