We are searching for the best talent for a Principal Scientist, Discovery Immunology. As a Principal Scientist in Immunology Discovery, you will be responsible for the identification and validation of novel pathways with a specific accountability for establishing translatable human cell co-cultures. The successful candidate will have experience in designing complex assay systems, analyzing large OMICS data sets, and familiarity with high-throughput phenotypic screening, high-content imaging, and CRISPR-based gene knockout (KO) approaches to identify novel targets for modulating cellular phenotypes. Expertise within immune cell culture functional assays and drug discovery is a must. Clear communication, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to oversee the generation of robust data packages to drive data-based decisions is imperative. The successful candidate will lead a group of 3+ junior scientists in newly established Immunology Discovery team at our R&D campus in Beerse Belgium, utilizing a full suite of advanced technologies to enable cutting edge research on novel disease pathways. Primary responsibilities: + Oversee the design and execution of complex functional assays, with line of sight to human translation and pathway validation. + Collaborate with Immunology, Discovery Technology and Molecular Pharmacology colleagues to enhance innovative practices. + Deliver on study milestones and commitments. + Coordinate experiments and resources with other scientists across functional groups to manage multiple initiatives and to present results to internal stakeholders while adhering to aggressive timelines. + Provide mentorship and support to direct reports and other team members as a subject matter expert. + Proactively investigate and provide improvements to processes across the team. + Foster a collaborative, creative, and rigorous culture of scientific discovery. + Build, supervise, and implement laboratory resources. Qualifications / Requirements: + Ph.D. in Immunology, Cell Biology, Pharmacology or Molecular Biology with a minimum of 3 years post-doctoral experience and with a strong record of innovation and publication. + Demonstrated supervisory and/or leadership experience with research teams managing direct reports with strong people management skills and ability to build, influence, and lead a team is required. + Immune cell biology expert able to apply skills, theoretical knowledge, and experience to provide scientific direction and approach to projects and challenges. + Minimum of 5 years of industry experience required. + Training in Immunology strongly preferred. + Experience in establishing multi-cell co-cultures, organoids, and in vitro human tissue models is highly desirable. + Training in Dermatology, Gastroenterology, or Rheumatology is preferred but not required. + Expertise in cell culture, cell isolation, transcriptional profiling, multiparameter flow cytometry, and functional assays. + Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. + Self-motivated, creative, and focused; able to work within a team and to collaborate with colleagues to achieve program goals. \#LI-Onsite **Required Skills:** **Preferred Skills:** Big Data Management, Critical Thinking, Data Reporting, Data Savvy, Drug Discovery Development, Molecular Diagnostics, Organizing, Pharmaceutical Microbiology, Problem Solving, Product Knowledge, Project Reporting, Project Schedule, Research Proposals, Scientific Research, Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), Standard Scientific Processes and Procedures, Strategic Thinking, Sustainability
