Principal Program and Project Manager
Serves a key role in organizing, managing, and measuring the overall activities of behavioral health focused business operations. This role has the responsibility for the implementation and ongoing management of administrative, contractual, and operational requirements of the team. This role supports and tracks requests from the customer as well as needed enhancements to ensure it meets customer needs. This role serves as a key resource to program operations staff, contributes to the development and evolution of projects, and collaborates on staff training when appropriate. This role monitors program implementation efforts for new customers; develops and implements program operating policies and procedures and manages operational performance to specified standards. This role is customer facing. + Contributes to the planning, development and implementation and documentation of program enhancements, procedures, policies, standards, operational workflows and management reporting. Assists program leaders in the development of strategic and operational goals and plans. (15%) + Leads the implementation of program and contractual requirements, collaborating with other departments, customer representatives and account management representatives as needed. Develops appropriately detailed project plans to support implementations and enhancements. Ensures product is implemented to specification. Oversees continuous daily monitoring of customer requests. Proactively engages in communication and follow-up of activities and assignments to program leaders. (25%) + Manages day-to-day operational tasks. Provides status reporting to program leaders on a regular basis. Apprises management of issues requiring resolution to maintain progress on a timely basis. Minimizes exposure and risk on projects, appropriately raising awareness of at-risk items. (10%) + Provides consultation and support to the operations team by guiding staff, troubleshooting as needed and managing the efficient documentation of intervention activities. Serves as operations liaison with IT, CMCs, other Magellan departments, and customers. Regularly monitors performance. (20%) + Reviews and monitors program operations data and reports; responds appropriately to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness based on information available. Understands how to professionally communicate difficult/sensitive information. Facilitates key meetings both externally and internally including scheduling and documentation. (30%) Other Job Requirements Responsibilities 10+ years of project management or very closely related job experience in a medium to large-scale corporation. Bachelor’s degree in business administration or any other related field required or an equivalent of this requirement in directly relatable work experience is also acceptable. 7+ years of managed care experience in a healthcare environment. 3+ years of operations experience in a behavioral health environment. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Product Suite, specifically Excel, Access and Visio. Knowledge of project management practices and methodologies. Knowledge of process improvement methodologies. Ability to develop and maintain multiple project plans. Financial Management knowledge; understands basic financial model and budgeting. Facilitation and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams. Proven ability to plan, organize, schedule, direct, control, and monitor project activities. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of clinical and operations service delivery in a managed care environment. Strong verbal, written and presentation skills. Experience in working collaboratively and effectively with management and staff at all levels of an Ability to manage people, processes, and systems. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Actual pay will be adjusted based on an individual's skills, experience, education, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position may be eligible for short-term incentives as well as a comprehensive benefits package.
