Principal Product Manager-Technical, Water Technology, WW Sustainability
Join us at the forefront of Amazon's sustainability initiatives to work on environmental and social advancements to support Amazon's long term worldwide sustainability strategy. At Amazon, we're working to be the most customer-centric company on earth.

To get there, we need exceptionally talented, bright, and driven people. The Worldwide Sustainability (WWS) organization capitalizes on Amazon’s scale and speed to build a more resilient and sustainable company. We manage our social and environmental impacts globally, and drive solutions that enable our customers, businesses, and the world to become more sustainable. The Worldwide Environment team utilizes science-based approaches to lower Amazon’s environmental impacts across the operations of our business units and products, making meaningful and measurable impacts in the communities in which we operate.

We are seeking a Principal Product Manager-Technical, Sustainable Water Specialist to serve as a deep subject matter expert (SME) in emerging technologies to conserve, recycle, harvest, and reuse water at scale, especially within industrial settings and within the operations that support Amazon’s value chain from our direct operations back to the commodity sourcing level. The ideal candidate will engage with third-party companies and startups to select, evaluate, and pilot water sustainability technologies and tools.

As the technical expert, you will drive these pilots toward large-scale deployment to support Amazon's water positive goals while partnering with external companies and in-house engineering teams to develop products that address Amazon's water technology needs. You will advise Amazon's businesses on developing their own water technology pilots and distribute centralized guidance on evolving capabilities in sustainable water use.

Working closely with Science and Tech teams, you will develop and deploy metrics and measurement methodologies to track the performance of existing and new water technologies within operations.

To succeed in this role, you will create and align leadership and businesses on long-term strategic water technology plans that address the changing water scarcity and risk landscape. You will serve as a visible leader in development and deployment within Worldwide Sustainability.

Key job responsibilities
- Serve as a company expert on hardware and software (including AI) technologies that enable sustainable water use at scale.
- Survey the emerging water technology landscape (including. e.g., startups serving various sectors, new tech offered by established water utilities, and technology being used in large-scale corporate replenishment projects) for technology assessment/piloting opportunities to benefit the business.
- Develop and align with leadership on comprehensive 3-5 year strategic plans to evolve Amazon’s water technology landscape across all businesses.
- Collaborate with Science and Tech teams to translate business needs (including growth plans in water scarce regions or regions with water regulation) into business- and region-customized water technology roadmaps and company-wide targets.
- Collaborate with Tech to develop tools for enterprise-wide integration of new tools.
- Use data from pilot programs to develop long-term company-wide targets that scale successful initiatives.
- Advise businesses on customized water technology needs and solutions, looking around corners for expanding regional and local regulations and water security issues.
- Represent the organization in industry forums and sustainability initiatives related to water.
