Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Product development – 70%
Responsible for optical modeling, optical design and design review, ODVT. Contribute optical responses in RFI/RFQ. Develop new optical module or subsystem specifications and verification requirements. Work with NPI team to transfer design to manufacture.
Legacy Sustaining – 10%
Take ownership technical approval on component PCNs. Take technical ownership on optical component introduction for cost reduction. Support and complete technical issues, RMA from manufacture of legacy products.
Technical Development – 20%
Investigate new micro-optical integrated modules or EDFA related optical technologies. Support feasibility studies by applying new techniques or technologies to existing and future products. Investigate technologies that improve product density via reduced power consumption and physical sizeEducation & Experience
BSc/MSc in Optics, Electro-optics, Physics or Electrical Engineering with strong optics and fiber optic background required. More than 5 years of experience in optical simulation and design in integrated sub-system including Terminal card, In-Line card, ROADM card. More than 10 years of experience in optical simulation and design in optical functional modules including EDFA/OCM/OTDR. More than 10 years of experience with key optical components used in transport systems including WSS/OSC, etc. More than 8 years of experience with product development processes and new product transfer to manufacturingSkills
Experience with optical free-space simulation tools such as Zemax. Experience in test script development for ODVT testing like Python, etc. Good communication skills and team work capability. Proficient in written and oral English. Quick learning and strong adoption in new team. Demonstrated ability to solve complex issues.Working Conditions
May require occasional off-site meetings or travel Regular use of a computer and other office equipment is necessary Interaction with team members and external contacts is a regular part of the job May require occasional overtime and flexibility in work hours to accommodate the executive’s needsPhysical Requirements
Sitting for extended periods while working on a computer or conducting meetings. Use of hands and fingers for typing, writing, and handling documents. Occasional lifting of objects or materials up to 20 pounds for administrative tasks. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
