As part of the Operations Quality Engineering team, the Principal Operations Quality Engineer will assure product and process quality with emphasis on Product Compliance to contractual, company, and regulatory requirements. You will have a great and direct impact in our Customer Satisfaction. **What You Will Do** + Use critical thinking resources and methods to improve product and process design; minimize inspection; resolve manufacturing defects/problems; complete specialized quality functions such as data preparation, analyses, and reporting. + Engage cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on top priorities to drive containment, Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) implementation. + Identify potential escapes/issues and ensure proper containment and RCCA. + Perform verification and validation of improvements to assure effectiveness of Corrective Actions. + Train and mentor new or less experienced Operations Quality Engineers. + Lead First Article Inspection (FAI) process and complete Frist Article Inspection Reports (FAIR). + Conduct product / process and area assessments. + Perform process walks, operator observations, and lead manufacturing team discussions to drive process enhancements to reduce defects. + Lead and support factory and product process improvements. + Identify opportunities for improvements to be leverage across similar process/assemblies as well as other programs. + Lead and facilitate Process Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (PFMEA) on processes to prevent product defects and mitigate risk. + Develop product Quality Control Plans. + Develop product acceptance techniques and plans. + Support hardware quality drawing & design reviews. + Assure Special Test Equipment (STE) and tooling comply with approved assembly and tooling drawings, assembly instructions, test procedures and metrology requirements. + Act on all applicable material, product and equipment alerts to prevent impact to product reliability using the nonconformance and/or purge process. + Manage dropped and damaged hardware processing and incident reporting. + Ensure calibration of measurement equipment and lead Out of Tolerance (OOT) investigations. **Qualifications You Must Have** + Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) or other technical field of study and 8 years related Quality Engineering experience or manufacturing experience + Experience in aerospace-related manufacturing environments and working with DOD prime contractors. + Experience with industry quality and technical standards to include AS9100 or ISO9001 + Manufacturing process experience in one of the following: (assembly, inspection, test) + Experience with electronics manufacturing and assembly. + Experience with customer interface for product acceptance and/or corrective action response + Experience in Root Cause and Corrective Actions (RCCA) and initiating / implementing effective short-term and long-term corrective actions. + Experience in development / usage of Quality metrics to drive true root cause and long-term corrective action, and in the identification/institution of perceptive verifications. + Previous experience with MRP systems and Shop Floor Management Tools (SAP, and/or CMES). + Experience interpreting drawings, work instructions, Bill of Materials (BOMs), consumable materials control, process disciplines and tool control. + The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance. **Qualifications We Prefer** + Experience with project / program bid and proposal development. + Thorough organizational, collaborative and communication skills. + Knowledge and inspection application of J-STD-001. + Certified J-STD-001 inspector + Knowledge with the application of Advance Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) (AS9145). + Practical experience of CORE/Six Sigma methodologies. + Demonstrated knowledge of key process characteristics and ability to implement effective process control techniques. + Proficient in the use of pareto analysis, cause/effect diagrams, process mapping. + Experienced in Product/Process Failure Modes & Affects Analysis. + Experience with Total Quality Control (TQC) or Operator Self-Verification programs. + Knowledge of Measurement System Analysis, statistical analysis, and Design of Experiments. + Project Management Professional Certification. + Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
