This is an exciting and dynamic time to join AECOM’s Nuclear Project Controls Team, where we deliver complex, safety-critical programmes across the energy and defence sectors. As a Principal Nuclear Project Planner, you’ll play a key role in driving planning excellence across major nuclear new build, decommissioning, and infrastructure projects — ensuring no two days are ever the same.
With continued growth across our nuclear portfolio, we are seeking an enthusiastic, ambitious, and driven professional to support high-profile projects while strengthening our planning capability and standards. This role is pivotal in optimising programme performance, enhancing reporting quality, and advancing our use of digital planning tools — particularly Primavera P6.
We’re looking for a talented individual with strong, recent experience in Primavera P6 within highly regulated environments. Candidates should demonstrate expertise in developing and maintaining fully logic-linked schedules, performing critical path analysis, managing baselines, and supporting Earned Value Management (EVM). Experience integrating cost and risk data, conducting schedule assurance reviews, and supporting NEC contract requirements will be highly regarded.

Here’s what you’ll do:
As a Principal Nuclear Project Planner, you will be expected to:-
Planning & Scheduling
Develop and maintain fully logic-linked, resource-loaded schedules in Primavera P6.Create integrated Level 1–4 schedules aligned to programme controls standards.Establish Work Breakdown Structures and coding structures aligned to client reporting requirements.Develop baseline schedules and manage change control processes.Conduct schedule risk analysis and support quantitative risk assessments.Perform critical path analysis and scenario modelling.Programme Controls
Interface with cost management teams to ensure schedule and cost alignment.Support Earned Value Management reporting.Produce weekly and monthly progress reports and dashboards.Analyse schedule performance metrics (SPI, float trends, etc.).Support forensic schedule analysis when required.Stakeholder & Client Engagement
Work closely with engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams.Participate in client planning workshops and schedule reviews.Provide planning assurance in line with nuclear regulatory expectations.Support bids and tenders with programme development and methodology narratives.Governance & Compliance
Ensure schedules comply with NEC contract requirements (where applicable).Maintain adherence to nuclear quality standards and safety culture principles.Support internal assurance and audit processes.Come grow with us.

Here’s what we’re looking for:
Extensive experience using Primavera P6 in a complex project environment.Experience working on nuclear, defence, or other highly regulated infrastructure projects.Strong understanding of planning best practices and schedule quality metrics.Knowledge of Earned Value Management principles.Proficient in schedule risk modelling toolsStrong analytical and problem-solving capability.Excellent stakeholder communication skills.Desirable
