PRINCIPAL MFG & PROCESS DVL ENGINEER-Molding Simulation
At TE, you will unleash your potential working with people from diverse backgrounds and industries to create a safer, sustainable and more connected world.
**Job Overview**
**Essential Functions**
+ Defines, coordinates, and drives scouting and development of injection molding simulation methods to meet stringent requirements of high density/low profile LCP sockets and connectors.
+ Applies mastery with specific software like Autodesk Moldflow, Modelex3D, or similar tools to develop simulation solutions for recommending part design modifications and optimizing mold design and process conditions.
+ Develops solutions to problems of unusual complexity which require a high degree of ingenuity, creativity and innovation.
+ Adapts and makes departures from traditional methods or approaches to develop innovative solutions for high density/low profile LCP sockets and connectors.
+ Creates relationships with internal/external innovators and influencers on simulation for precision molding.
+ Creates or controls the process design standard for molding simulation methods used by other engineers (e.g. technology transfer to end users).
+ Contributes to the manufacturing technology development roadmap of the AMP team.
+ Contributes to technology and product decisions, driving innovation and execution to increase competitiveness.
+ Acts as the binding element between key cross-functional teams (AMP, AST, ADT, PDE, MPDE, CPT)*, ensuring the effectiveness and efficiency of these critical interfaces.
+ Documents all related processes in applicable TE systems, and maintains adherence to all appropriate specifications, regulatory and customer requirements
+ Supports supply chain to verify related suppliers’ compliance and capability.
+ Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignment, performing work without appreciable direction.
+ Drives results primarily through collaboration and influence, not through direct reporting relationships.
+ Builds a culture of agile adapting that responds to environmental changes.
+ Provides guidance and complex subject matter training to less experienced co-workers.
+ May lead or guide a small team of professionals and mentors and coaches other engineers.
+ Provides measurable input to the objectives and goals of the department in support of the function and business unit strategies.
**What your background should look like:**
+ Bachelor’s Degree (Mechanical Engineering or related) with 12+ years of experience required, or Masters with 10+ years of experience, or PHD level with 6+ years of experience.
+ Deep understanding of plastic injection molding including knowledge of polymers, mold design, injection molding processes, and defect analysis (short shots, warpage, cracking, and tight tolerances).
+ Mastery in molding simulation software like Autodesk Moldflow, Modelex3D, or similar tools (Sigmasoft, 3D Timon).
+ Master-level application of plastics engineering principles (heat transfer, fluid flow, stress analysis, and mechanics of materials) for effective molding simulation and design.
+ Proficiency with 3D CAD modeling software for creating and manipulating complex models used in simulation.
+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to analyze simulation results, troubleshooting issues, and identify solutions for complex molding challenges.
+ In-depth knowledge of quality tools (FMEA, Six Sigma, DOE, 8D/Continuous Improvement).
+ Fluent in English (read, write, and speak).
+ Experience with sub-micron tolerances for electrical connectors and sockets is a plus!
+ Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with internal/external stakeholders.
+ Practical application of MS Office software (Word, Excel, PPT, Project, & Outlook).
+ Based in China-Shanghai and willingness to travel up to 25% average.
