As the Principal Solutions Architect, Consumer Experience and Clinical Enablement, you will be a visionary leader responsible for shaping the future of digital health at CommonSpirit Health. This is a high-impact, individual contributor role where you will design and lead the architecture of mission-critical digital experiences and virtual health capabilities for consumers, patients, and clinicians. You will bridge software engineering excellence with enterprise architecture discipline to accelerate the modernization of CommonSpirit Health's digital ecosystem — including web, mobile, API, and cloud-native platforms.
This role is not just about architecture; it's about driving innovation and transforming healthcare through technology. Acting as a thought-leader, chief architect, and technical mentor, you will work cross-functionally with product, engineering, marketing, clinical, operations, and infrastructure teams to build scalable, secure, and intuitive digital and virtual health experiences. You will be instrumental in shaping CommonSpirit’s vision for a connected digital & virtual healthcare experience. As a key member of the Consumer Experience & Clinical Enablement Team, you will work closely with other chief architects at CommonSpirit and partner with Physician Enterprise, Marketing, Nursing and IT stakeholders for program execution, including the planning, architecture, and development of consumer-facing products and clinical applications. You will be an advocate for innovation, change, and clarity while supporting and motivating the team. You will be assigned to complex initiatives with significant scope, organizational impact, and budget, and you will be an experienced product engineering leader, supporting software engineering best practices and delivering technology products through modern cloud platforms practices and full-stack development frameworks. You will have the autonomy to make critical architectural decisions and the influence to drive the adoption of new technologies and approaches.
ResponsibilitiesStrategic Architect: Lead end-to-end solution architecture for complex digital health platforms and clinical enablement solutions, focusing on scalability, security, and usability. Represent, own, and influence with expertise the Digital Solutions in architectural review boards and enterprise IT strategy forums.Business Alignment: Align architecture with business goals, KPIs, and OKRs related to patient engagement, digital front door, care navigation, remote care enablement, and the centralized Care Base and Patient Connection Centers.Technical Advisor: Serve as a primary technical advisor and architecture SME to senior leadership, digital product teams, and clinical and business partners on key technology decisions, providing insights and recommendations based on deep understanding of the digital health landscape. Accountable for rationalizing and streamlining third party applications in the Consumer and Clinical enablement portfolio, keeping the technology foundation and consumer, patient and staff experience top of mind.Governance Leader: Develop, launch, and scale an architecture board review, as the accountable leader for its technology success, streamlining and rationalizing the Consumer and Clinical Enablement technology stacks. Establish and advocate for architecture standards, patterns, and design principles. Roadmap Driver: Accountable leader to drive towards streamlined technology strategy and translate into an achievable roadmap; accountable leader to demonstrate progressive and continuous value.Delivery Master: Driver of translating conceptual engineering concepts into deliverable plans; this leader is aware of the accountability from concept, to design, to scalable delivery, and relentless about executing on time, within budget, and high quality.Unwavering Ownership: Leads with unwavering ownership, understanding that the strength of our technology foundation is defined by its weakest link. Identify and evaluate emerging technologies and trends, and implement recommendations on how they can be leveraged to improve patient care and the overall healthcare experience.System-Wide Integrator: Accountable for ensuring solutions are designed with a system-wide perspective, prioritizing scalability, sustainability, and long-term integration to create a cohesive and robust technology foundation. Serves as the central connector for lead architects across portfolios, fostering collaboration and driving architectural alignment through influence and technical leadership.Interoperability Expert: Ensure interoperability between EHRs (e.g., Epic, Cerner), CRM platforms, and other clinical/operational systems through scalable integration patterns.Engineering Excellence Driver: Drive best-in-class software engineering practices across teams, including CI/CD, automated testing, observability, and modern DevSecOps pipelines.Platform Evolution Guide: Guide the evolution of cloud-native platforms (GCP, Azure, or AWS), microservices, APIs (FHIR, HL7), and frontend frameworks (e.g., React, Flutter, etc.).Omni-Channel Architect: Lead architecture for omni-channel patient experiences across mobile, web, and digital health tools (e.g., self-scheduling, telehealth, remote monitoring), and ensures this seamlessly translates for the patient experience in room, and beyond.Collaborative Designer: Collaborate closely with engineering managers, tech leads, and product leaders to ensure performant, high-quality codebases and robust systems design.Intuitive Designer: Design intuitive and inclusive digital interfaces and services that improve the consumer journey and provider workflows.Mentor & Coach: Act as a mentor and coach to architects and engineers across multiple teams and disciplines.Remote eligible.Job Requirements
15+ years of experience in software engineering and/or application architecture.10+ years of experience in a senior technical leadership or principal-level role.Demonstrated experience in healthcare IT, digital health platforms, or clinical systems integration required.Expert level understanding of cloud architecture (GCP, AWS, or Azure), APIs (REST, GraphQL, FHIR), mobile/web development and Artificial Intelligence.Expert level understanding in modern backend full-stack systems and frontend language/frameworks.Advanced proficiency with modern API-led architecture, event-driven design, data driven services and healthcare interoperability standards (FHIR, HL7, SMART on FHIR).
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, Education, Management, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.Agile certifications strongly desired.Systems thinking and the ability to abstract and decompose complex problems.Demonstrated experience engaging, translating and influencing with both technical and non-technical executive level stakeholders; Strong verbal and written communication skills.Proven ability to align technical decisions to broader organizational strategy and goals.Deep experience working in Agile product environments and DevOps cultures.High emotional intelligence and cross-functional leadership ability in matrixed enterprise environments.A proven track record of driving innovation and delivering impactful results in a complex, enterprise environment.Where You'll WorkInspired by faith.
