You will join our SDR R&D team as Principal Digital Hardware Engineer. In this role, you will enjoy challenging work and the unique opportunity to take ownership of developing our new SDR products. You will be involved in all aspects of the product development cycle, including concept, prototyping, design, development, testing, and manufacturing. Through your work you will have opportunities to further expand your skills and to participate in initiatives to grow the craft of digital design. **In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:** + Collaborate with multi-disciplinary hardware engineering teams to develop SDR products. + Own all aspects of digital board level design, including schematic entry, PCB stack-up, layout guidelines, signal integrity simulations, and prototype validation. + Develop and execute plans for prototype hardware bring-up and board level validation. + Lead digital design by estimating efforts, providing updates on work status, and proactively identifying and addressing technical risks **Who You Are:** You partner with others to get work done. You persist in accomplishing objectives despite obstacles and setbacks. **For This Role, You Will Need:** + Minimum Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline + Minimum 5 years relevant engineering experience in digital hardware design + Proficiency in using lab tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, JTAG programmers, lab power supplies, DMMs, etc. + Hands-on experience with EDA tools for schematic capture and PCB layout + Experience in bringing up prototype hardware and in defining and executing test plans to verify board level digital circuits + Strong high-speed design fundamentals, including signal integrity, crosstalk, impedance control, EMI, and PCB stack-up + Experience with clocking architectures, including clock tree design, PLL configuration, and jitter analysis and mitigation techniques for high-speed digital systems + Experience using VHDL and/or SystemVerilog to implement synthesizable logic targeting FPGAs + Familiarity with static timing analysis and FPGA timing constraints + Exceptional problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex technical challenges + Experience collaborating with cross-disciplinary engineering teams + Strong verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to articulate technical ideas to diverse stakeholders **Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart:** + Experience with FPGA or ASIC integration into digital design + Familiarity with mixed-signal designs and power management for digital systems + Understanding of PCB thermal and mechanical design considerations + Familiarity with Xilinx, Intel or Lattice FPGAs and CPLDs, and associated toolchains + Experience writing testbenches and simulation models to verify logic designs + Experience designing and validating high-speed interfaces (i.e. DDR, PCIe, JESD204, Ethernet) + Familiarity with common clock domain crossing techniques and timing closure + Proficiency in scripting or programming languages (e.g., LabVIEW, Python) for hardware testing and automation + Hands-on experience with software defined radios **Our Culture & Commitment to You:** At Emerson, we prioritize a workplace where every employee is valued, respected, and empowered to grow.
