**Description**
**About the role**
Our Geotechnical team services a wide range of clients, working on infrastructure and developments, both for private and public entities across Australia. Due to exceptional success and continued growth in our Geotechnical team we have an exciting opportunity for a _Geotechnical Team Leader_ to join our Sydney office in St Leonards.
As Team Leader, you will provide leadership to ensure alignment to company strategy, initiatives, vision, and culture. You will be the advocate of the business both internally within Stantec and externally to clients and professional organisations within the region.
You will be responsible for leading a team in business development, managing site investigations, providing construction phased support / temporary works assessments and more, whilst ensuring your team is supported, engaged and adequately resourced to meet project requirements and that the team is trained and appropriately skilled.
**Day to day tasks would involve:**
+ **Leadership and Team Development**
+ Set clear and achievable goals with team members and conduct regular 1:1 catch-ups to check-in on team member health and wellbeing and track the goal progress.
+ Develop the team’s skills and experience through appropriate training development, mentoring and guidance.
+ Foster a success-oriented environment within the team by displaying collaborative behaviours and exerting measured and balanced influence.
+ **Technical Expertise and Project Execution**
+ Lead the planning, execution, and interpretation of geotechnical investigations including drilling, sampling, and in-situ testing
+ Prepare technical reports and recommendations for foundations, earthworks, and ground improvement.
+ **Business Development and Client Relationship Management**
+ Initiate and manage business development opportunities, actively participate in and lead client service through establishing and maintaining strong relationships.
+ Lead and/or review proposals for pricing, approach and methodology, variation estimates and submission documents, and review and evaluate subconsultant tender response submissions to ensure they are suitable.
+ **Operational and Performance Management**
+ Support the Group Leader in monitoring and reporting on team performance, contributing to the preparation of annual business plans and strategic initiatives.
+ Ensure optimal team utilization through effective forecasting, workload management, and delegation of tasks.
+ Contribute to the development and maintenance of a healthy project backlog through strategic networking and business development activities.
**To be successful for this role you'll need:**
+ Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or geotechnical engineering
+ Minimum 10 years of experience in geotechnical investigations and consulting
+ Accredited as CPEng or RPGeo is highly desirable
+ A broad range of skills covering people management, business development, project delivery and business management.
+ Experience in managing teams with direct line management duties.
+ Highly developed consulting skills to liaise with clients and other stakeholders to achieve mutually successful project outcomes.
+ Well-developed problem solving and negotiations skills to resolve queries.
