Northrop Grumman Space Systems—Launch and Missile Defense Systems offers an excellent opportunity for a Principal Engineer Systems Architect – MBSE Modeler (25-459) to join our team of talented and diverse professionals. This position, located in Colorado Springs, CO, or Huntsville, AL, plays a crucial role in supporting the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels.
This position does not offer relocation support and requires on-site work with no remote options.
Position Overview:
The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is a vital component of the Missile Defense System. It provides a key operational platform that allows the U.S. president, the secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and tactical levels to systematically plan missile defense operations, monitor battle progress, and actively control networked sensors and weapon systems to achieve global and regional mission objectives. C2BMC offers a layered missile defense capability, delivering an optimized response to threats across all ranges and flight phases. It serves as a force multiplier by connecting, integrating, and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations worldwide and locally, thereby boosting overall performance. Additionally, C2BMC is a critical part of all ground and flight tests that verify and demonstrate the missile defense system's current and future capabilities.
This position is for an architecture model developer for the Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) System. The selected candidate will be responsible for converting paper architecture documents into digital models, delivering model artifacts, and collaborating with both internal C2BMC and external MDA stakeholders within an MBSE modeling environment to ensure accurate system representations and behaviors. Support the development of architecture models. Perform model configuration management. Serve as a focal point for integration with other modeling teams and environments outside of C2BMC (e.g., models provided or developed by other missile defense partner organizations). Will mentor junior systems engineering team members to improve their skills within the department. Work will be performed under the supervision of the Digital Engineering Team (DET) Lead and DET Architecture Model Lead. The role requires coordinating with other technical leads, product owners, C2BMC management, and government customers to ensure high-quality products are delivered on time and within resource constraints.
