With a team of over 3000 technical professionals located across nine countries and remote technical anchors, EC teams are trusted to deliver high-quality, specialist services that help to fill capability gaps, resourcing needs and technical constraints on projects of all scopes and sizes. **Job Description** The Principal Engineer - RAMS/ SESA is responsible for driving all Systems Engineering and Systems Assurance (SESA) activities throughout the design and construction phases of complex transportation and rail projects. This role ensures that systems comply with contractual, regulatory, and international standards while providing technical leadership, interface management, and coordination across multidisciplinary teams. The position requires strong managerial abilities to oversee deliverables, stakeholder interfaces, and cross-functional integration. + Ensure clear communication, integration and alignment between internal packages and departments and external packages and stakeholders. + Coordination between design, construction, testing, and commissioning teams to ensure coherent RAM and Safety outcomes. + Serve as SESA focal point in meetings, workshops, and design coordination sessions, ensuring traceability of requirements. + Monitor progress, flag potential issues, and coordinate resolution actions across interfacing teams. **Qualifications** + Master of Engineering degree (or equivalent education) in an appropriate engineering discipline from an accredited college or university. + 10+ years of experience in SESA Engineering. + Strong background in SESA. + Advanced knowledge of reliability, availability, maintainability (RAM) analysis. Advanced knowledge of Safety Assurance + Practical experience across all stages of CENELEC standards (EN50126, EN 50128, and EN 50129) and ISO 15288 + Experience in railway design disciplines, including systems, infrastructure, and rolling stock, will be valued. + Solid experience in the sector and in-depth knowledge of CENELEC standards (EN50126, EN 50128, and EN 50129). + Lead all SESA activities from concept phase through design, testing, commissioning and project closeout. + Review contract requirements and develop project-specific SESA strategies, methodologies, and implementation plans. + Provide expert SESA support and guidance to engineering teams, designers, and project stakeholders. + Review and support key RAM documentation and activities as per; RAM Plan, RAM Allocation, FMECA, RAM Modelling, RAM Analysis and RBDs, CCF, Spare Part List, RCIL, Maintainability Analysis, FRACAS. + Review and support key Safety documentation and activities as per; Safety Plan, PHA, SHA, SSHA, O&SHA, IHA, Hazard Log, Safety Case, SRAC, SCIL, and SIL Demonstration. + Have a deep understanding of System Engineering processes used in railway projects (requirements management, interface management, V&V, configuration management). + Collaborate with project or bid teams to deliver mission-critical capabilities and SESA deliverables on schedule. + Liaise with customers, end-users, subcontractors, suppliers, and certifying bodies to ensure alignment to requirements. **Additional Information** **At AECOM, you will have freedom to grow in a world of opportunity** _Our Freedom to Grow hybrid working philosophy is the cornerstone of our success as a business – supporting a culture of flexibility, trust and performance at AECOM._ **About AECOM** AECOM is proud to offer comprehensive benefits to meet the diverse needs of our employees.
