Are you ready to drive engineering activities that will take Spectrum's telecommunications and security operations to new heights? As a Principal Engineer I, you will collaborate with technical operations staff on system design, configuration, and security hardening, while guiding design teams and advising team leaders to ensure cutting-edge solutions and seamless integration. In this impactful role, you will be at the forefront of securing critical network infrastructure, developing and maintaining vulnerability and exposure management processes, conducting formal reviews of CVEs, enforcing adherence to golden configurations, managing lab environment vulnerability scanning, and defining the scope and methodology for network device penetration testing. You will play a key role in strengthening Spectrum's security posture across managed services, B2B relationships, and internal operations while maintaining and enhancing critical hardware, software, and electrical systems.

What You’ll Bring to Spectrum Required Qualifications Education Master’s or bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field or related work experience Experience 5+ years engineering work experience 5+ years project management work experience Skills Ability to read, write, speak and understand English Basic knowledge of related industry specifications and standards IEEE, ANSI, Fiber (Multimode, Single mode, UTP, etc.), Bridging, Switching, Routing, Ethernet and Transport technologies and protocols Basic knowledge in network design, network architecture, protocols and network topology Basic knowledge in TCP/IP and the OSI Model Basic knowledge in using ticketing and software tools to support the current operations Basic knowledge of network devices and basic network appliances Basic knowledge of network designing software, such as Visio Ability to perform duties in a very fast-paced environment and ability to learn new technology quickly Ability to use personal computer and software applications Preferred Qualifications
Education
Master’s degree in Cybersecurity or relatedIndustry and vendor specific certifications and training preferred (Cisco, Juniper, Alcatel-Lucent, etc.)Experience
Experience with SIEM platforms (Splunk or similar) for log aggregation and threat detectionIncident response and forensic investigation experienceCompliance framework experience (NIST CSF, CIS Controls, ISO 27001, SOC 2)Familiarity with network security controls including firewalls, ACLs, VPNs, MFA, and jump hostsExperience managing Managed Services devices (Fortinet, Cisco Meraki, Audiocodes)Experience with API tooling and automation for security operations workflowsFamiliarity with vulnerability management programs, including scanning, prioritization, and remediation trackingExperience managing B2B relationships, including vendor coordination and service-level accountabilityExperience leading or mentoring junior security engineersSkills
