Principal Engineer - Gen AI

About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Principal Engineer who will bring the highest technical thought leadership to the organization. In this role, this leader will be accountable for assisting delivery leaders in Architecture & Engineering group by developing a vision that helps realize Customer First Experience through modern design & technologies. He/she will collaborate with key partners, Leads and team members across regions to take complete ownership and accountability till execution of vision including Product Strategy & Delivery, Architecture, and Platform in articulating current and future state.


In this role, you will:

Act as an advisor to leadership to develop or influence applications, network, information security, database, operating systems, or web technologies for highly complex business and technical needs across multiple groupsLead the strategy and resolution of highly complex and unique challenges requiring in-depth evaluation across multiple areas or the enterprise, delivering solutions that are long-term, large-scale and require vision, creativity, innovation, advanced analytical and inductive thinkingTranslate advanced technology experience, an in-depth knowledge of the organizations tactical and strategic business objectives, the enterprise technological environment, the organization structure, and strategic technological opportunities and requirements into technical engineering solutionsProvide vision, direction and expertise to leadership on implementing innovative and significant business solutionsMaintain knowledge of industry best practices and new technologies and recommends innovations that enhance operations or provide a competitive advantage to the organizationStrategically engage with all levels of professionals and managers across the enterprise and serve as an expert advisor to leadership


Required Qualifications:

7+ years of Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education


Desired Qualifications:

University degree in Business or related discipline with 7 + years of experience.Technical expert, innovator, and strategic thought leader within a specified technology engineering discipline such as applications, services, network, information security, database, operating systems, or web technologies.Experience in leading large scale Digital transformation initiativesMust have Experience in developing application in Cloud native technologies – Microservices, Spring bootExperience in Gen AI and Agentic AI technologies and toolingExperience in Designing and Architecting Enterprise Grade applications including development of common components and frameworksExperience in designing Low latency, High throughput applications specifically around NFR patterns and frameworksMust have Experience in developing applications using Event driven architecture using KEES (Kafka Enterprise Event Streaming) , Streaming using FlinkRich experience working in Agile environmentHands on experience adopting and implementing engineering practices such as TDD, BDD, Developer lead functional automation, Automated deploymentExperience in recommending changes to application architecture with knowledge in infrastructure aspects and good ability to articulate to stakeholders. Deep knowledge, understanding & experience of working with a large variety of multi-tier architectures and have very good understanding of microservices and should have prior experience in developing the cloud native appsImplementing best practices from inception of SDLC like GIT branching Strategy, Code Reviews, Test Driven developmentsHands-on experience in Java or any similar JVM languages, Eager to solve the problem by quickly implementing the PoC  Working knowledge on RDBMS, NoSQL like MongoDB, HADOOP and ELK stack  Sound understanding of architecting middleware applications including – API driven architectureSound knowledge on Event Driven programming and messaging broker like MQ, KAFKAGood understanding of security best practices in implementing the public facing external applications (Fortify Scan, SonarQube, Black duck scan)Core understanding of BFSI and services domain is mustShould have working knowledge on one of cloud platforms like PCF, AWS, Azure or GCP, Openshift container platform

Maintains knowledge of industry best practices and new technologies and recommends innovations that enhance operations and/or provide a competitive advantage to the organization.Develop standards and best practices and for engineering complex, largescale technology solutions to address highly complex and typically cross-organizational issues, while maintaining broad knowledge of other technology engineering disciplines and partnering with other key experts.Maintain knowledge of industry best practices and new technologies and recommends innovations that enhance operations and/or provide a competitive advantage to the organization.May represent Wells Fargo to external industry groups, influencing industry standards. Provides expert counsel to senior technology leadership and advises and mentors others with the goal of knowledge transfer.Wear the hat of architecture of all of Journey Enablement products’ and will also be responsible for getting it reviewed, and making sure the system is built accordinglyAppetite to solve the scalability and Performance issues and should have strong troubleshooting skillsStrong influential skills in vetting design with our partners and articulate the same in precise and concise way
