Who we’re looking for 

Toyota is looking for team members who are passionate about technology and interested in joining a collaborative and highly motivated team as a Principal Engineer. 

  

The primary responsibility of this role is to utilize engineering expertise to lead the team to design, develop, and deliver security features of products including systems, application and/or solutions, in accordance with appropriate processes, meeting Toyota’s goals for the product.

Reporting to the Product Cybersecurity General Manager, the person in this role will join Product Cybersecurity team to deploy security solutions for applications in a more connected vehicle environment.


What you’ll be doing 

Product cybersecurity technical thought leadership in the research, design, development, manufacturing, and/or operations of the Connected, Autonomous, Shared, and Electrified mobility solutions and digital services

Creation & facilitation of technical reference architectures to quickly enable biz divisions to implement solutions that align w/ privacy-by-design & security-by-design

Creation & facilitation of automotive threat analysis and risk assessment (TARA) for the end-to-end (E2E) vehicle ecosystem (embedded, cloud, mobile app)

Provides value-added research, analysis, advice/counsel to management; known as change agent​

Creates wholly new methodologies and designs strategies to ensure long-term competitiveness of business processes, products and services​

What you bring

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or, an equivalent years of cybersecurity engineering experience (e.g., 4+ years if no Bachelor’s degree)

Strong background in cybersecurity engineering experience

Proficient in operating in a security engineering role, with an emphasis on cybersecurity expertise to identify risks & design countermeasures for embedded systems, cloud systems, and mobile app.

Systems, hardware, and/or software engineering and cybersecurity subject matter expert with hands-on engineering development and technical leadership experience

Proficient with technologies used in the vehicle ecosystem – from embedded system cybersecurity, mobile app cybersecurity, & cloud cybersecurity

Masterful written and communication skills with experience in executive engagement

Added bonus if you have

Master’s Degree in Engineering or related discipline

Experience with embedded AI/ML, including Generative AI and common GAI platforms

Relevant certifications, such as CISSP, CISM, or OSCP, are highly desirable

Fluent in Japanese (reading, writing, speaking) for business and technical discussions
