As the Principal Engineer, Quality Engineering, you will be the technical lead for all facets of the Quality Engineering discipline for Fort Worth Military Landing Gear and be expected to effectively collaborate and partner with Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, Engineering, and Customers, to ensure functional and business objectives are met.
As the lead, you play will a critical role in monitoring quality metrics to drive continuous improvement, developing and managing numerous initiatives/projects to address complex problems, overseeing rapid problem resolution, and ensuring overall effectiveness of stringent Quality and compliance standards.
**You Will Do**
+ Accelerate the Military Landing Gear Quality transformation through your expertise of Quality Engineering fundamentals.
+ Project manage Quality Engineering responsibilities across all stages of assembly — from design through delivery.
+ Lead, train, coach, and mentor Quality Engineers to ensure accountability and skill development.
+ Lead and support Continuous Improvement and functional transformation initiatives through CORE methodologies and autonomous problem solving.
+ Manage Corrective Action Plans associated with SRR reduction projects, customer escapes, audit findings, and other site-impacting issues.
+ Lead cross-functional teams in initiating, investigating, and closing out Root Cause Corrective and Preventive Actions (RCCA/CAPA), ensuring effectiveness and accountability.
+ Utilize a variety of Root Cause Analysis tools to resolve complex issues and implement Level 1 Mistake Proofing solutions.
+ Identify opportunities for technology insertions to improve mistake proofing and increase efficiency.
+ Provide technical guidance on quality standards, specifications, and processes.
+ Review and approve engineering changes, manufacturing changes, and any other changes that impact quality standards.
+ Develop, implement, and maintain quality documentation including work instructions, inspection plans, and control plans that align with engineering requirements and production needs.
+ Collect, organize, analyze, and act on data and Quality KPIs (e.g., SRR, Escapes, Process Noncompliances, Quality Clinic metrics, CAB metrics) to support decision-making and drive quality improvements.
+ Develop, lead, and manage product/process audits to validate Quality Control and Quality Assurance effectiveness, including Corrective Action validations.
+ Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams and program IPTs to ensure quality processes and products throughout the product lifecycle.
+ Drive improvements in key defect drivers, processes, and systems to enhance assembly performance and meet site quality objectives.
+ Promote a culture of risk identification, mitigation, and proactive problem-solving.
+ Regularly interface with customer quality representatives and DCMA to ensure alignment and compliance.
+ Contribute to the goal-setting and strategic planning efforts of the team, department, and site.
+ Provide measurable input for new processes or standards that support business strategies.
+ Continuously improve and maintain relevant skills, knowledge, qualifications, and certifications.
**Qualifications You Must Have**
+ Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience **or** an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience
+ Experience with AS9100 and/or ISO 9001 quality management systems.
+ Experience with leading root cause corrective action (RCCA) and applying quality methodologies and tools
+ Experience in Lean Six Sigma or continuous improvement practices.
+ Experience with data mining and analysis of large datasets.
+ Experience leading cross-functional projects, reporting Quality KPIs to leadership, and presenting program performance to customers.
**Qualifications We Prefer**
+ RTX CORE Professional Certification.
+ ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE).
+ Proficiency in Excel, SAP, Solumina MES, and Tableau.
+ Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification.
+ Experience in fast-paced assembly environment.
+ Experience with managing and reducing all elements of COPQ.
+ Understanding of how to apply problem-solving and decision-making skills to achieve project outcomes

The salary range for this role is 101,000 USD - 203,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
