We are seeking a great teammate, excited to join a highly collaborative and collegial product counsel team, and eager to dive into a wide variety of work to help drive the business forward. We’re looking for a curious, motivated self-starter who can: + Develop an understanding of Splunk’s observability products and the unique, relevant legal challenges specific to those products. + Cultivate close working relationships with the sales, engineering, product management, business development, operations, finance, and legal teams bringing our products to market. + Partner closely with legal teams supporting both supply chain and sales to negotiate complex commercial agreements with suppliers, partners, and customers. + Provide tactical guidance to product management and engineering teams on new and existing services, products, and features throughout the entire product lifecycle. + Provide expertise on privacy and data protection issues on a global basis. + Be adept at making sound legal judgments quickly to facilitate agile business execution. + Manage legal requests from multiple internal clients, while prioritizing key transactions. + Respond promptly and professionally to requests from internal clients. + Break down complex legal and product issues and communicate them clearly and effectively in plain English. + Assist in the continuous improvement of standard form agreements and legal playbooks. + Be a great teammate, willing to pitch in and assist wherever needed. + Perform other legal and business-related duties as needed to support the success of the Splunk business. **Minimum Qualifications** + Bar membership in a U.S. jurisdiction, with good standing and at least 7 years of legal experience. + Experience (minimum of 3 years) in in-house legal roles, with a demonstrated track record of advising senior leadership in product and engineering. + Extensive experience advising on product development, engineering innovation, and go-to-market strategies, including practical, business oriented legal guidance throughout the product lifecycle. + Strong expertise in intellectual property, advanced software licensing frameworks, and evolving data protection laws, with experience advising on their application in complex technical environments. + Strong leadership abilities, with a proven capability to drive cross-functional collaboration, mentor team members, and contribute to fostering a high-performing and inclusive team culture. **Preferred Qualifications** + Demonstrated mastery in technology transactions, including drafting, negotiating, and closing complex commercial agreements such as SaaS contracts, enterprise licensing deals, and global data processing agreements. + Advanced knowledge of and practical expertise with global privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA) and their implications for technology businesses, including experience developing compliance strategies for emerging technologies. + Proven track record of delivering results in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment, with the ability to simultaneously lead multiple high-priority projects to successful completion. **\#WeAreCisco** At Cisco, we’re revolutionizing how data and infrastructure connect and protect organizations in the AI era – and beyond. Employees receive up to twelve paid holidays per calendar year, which includes one floating holiday (for non-exempt employees), plus a day off for their birthday. Non-Exempt new hires accrue up to 16 days of vacation time off each year, at a rate of 4.92 hours per pay period. Exempt new hires participate in Cisco’s flexible Vacation Time Off policy, which does not place a defined limit on how much vacation time eligible employees may use, but is subject to availability and some business limitations. All new hires are eligible for Sick Time Off subject to Cisco’s Sick Time Off Policy and will have eighty (80) hours of sick time off provided on their hire date and on January 1st of each year thereafter. Up to 80 hours of unused sick time will be carried forward from one calendar year to the next such that the maximum number of sick time hours an employee may have available is 160 hours. Employees in Illinois have a unique time off program designed specifically with local requirements in mind. All employees also have access to paid time away to deal with critical or emergency issues. We offer additional paid time to volunteer and give back to the community. Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco typically pays as follows: .75% of incentive target for each 1% of revenue attainment up to 50% of quota; 1.5% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 50% and 75%; 1% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 75% and 100%; and once performance exceeds 100% attainment, incentive rates are at or above 1% for each 1% of attainment with no cap on incentive compensation. For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.
