What you will do:
As a Principal Software Engineer, you’ll have the opportunity to
Design distributed systems considering scalability, design patterns, disaster recovery, tech stacks, Minimum Viable Product- MVP & Non-Functional Requirements.Work with multiple teams and guide them on technical aspects, set quality standards and participate in design discussion and drive technical decisionsBe a part of architectural design reviews across teams and code reviews across teamsEngage with Product Management and Business to drive the agenda, set your priorities and deliver awesome products.Drive design, development, implementation and documentationBuild, test and deploy cutting edge solutions at scale, impacting associates of Walmart worldwide.Interact with Walmart engineering teams across geographies to leverage expertise and contribute to the tech community.Drive the success of the implementation by applying technical skills, to design and build enhanced processes and technical solutions in support of strategic initiatives.Use your engineering experience and technical skill to develop highly scalable and robust solutions. You will work with Engineering Leads, Principal Engineers and Distinguished Engineers very closely.Work closely with the Architects and cross functional teams and follow established practices for the delivery of solutions meeting QCD (Quality, Cost ; Delivery) within the established architectural guidelines.Work with senior leadership to chart out the future roadmap of the productsParticipate in hiring and build teams enabling them to be high performing agile teams.Help and participate with the teams that leverage and contribute to open source technologies to Make impact on a global scaleInteract closely for requirements with Business owners and technical teams across the globe.What you will bring:
B.Tech. / B.E. / M.Tech. / M.S. in Computer Science or relevant discipline15+ years of experience in design and development of highly-scalable distributed applications and platforms - particularly for multi-tenant, SaaS products.Experience building a 'Code, Deploy, Run' pipeline using DevOps best practices by leveraging the best available CI/CD tools.GenAI technologies such as LLMs and RAG.Cloud-based AI platforms like GCP, Vertex AI or Azure.Programming languages, particularly Java.Data engineering and handling large datasets.Databases, including vector and big data technologies.Strong computer science fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, design patterns.Own Tech Debt/Tech Modernization - Ability to balance the long-term "big picture" and short-term implications of design decisions.Having proficiency Java/J2EE, Microservices, Cloud Native ArchitectureHands on experience in Microservices, RESTful webservices development in Java SpringBoot, Dropwizard or equivalent framework).Good knowledge in messaging systems: Kafka / RabbitMQIn depth knowledge of Cloud Native Architecture, Microservice Architecture and related stacks (Service Registry, ELK / Splunk, service registry, VMs, etc.) and container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.)Knowledge of at least one of Azure/Google Cloud Platforms.Self-Starter with the ability to multitask across several priority areas in the face of fuzzy situations.Demonstrated end-to-end ownership for development and design of least one cloud-based project.Strong hands on development skills to prototype technical solutions.Strong desire to drive change, and ability to adapt to change quickly.
