Princ TIPM, MSP Scaled MFG, MSP
Description The Mechatronics and Sustainable Packaging (MSP) Operations organization oversees the manufacturing of high-quality packaging and robotics systems. It gets the right materials, to the right place, at the right time to enable our large scale complex automated solutions to deliver results for our customers. It’s a fast-paced operation that works cross-functionally with teams across Amazon globally, and is driven by data and performance indicators. We are seeking a talented and motivated Principal Technical Infrastructure Program Manager who is capable of operating in a fast paced, ever changing, multi-platform international manufacturing and production environment. Our P-TIPM works closely with our ODMs, CMs, internal MSP mechatronics development teams, and with upstream/downstream suppliers to improve the quality, manufacturability, and cost of MSP products proactively in the design phase and throughout the entire product life-cycle. This role requires the TIPM to both develop manufacturing strategy and lead well detailed tactical execution plans to deliver on the strategy. You will take ownership of the manufacturing launch and resolution of process issues. You will be the driver in getting production up and running, understanding root cause of hardware failures and resolving gaps in our suppliers manufacturing processes. Further you will accomplish this both by directly making changes, and working as a “force-multiplier” by coaching and mentoring other PMs and manufacturing engineers to deliver production capabilities on schedule, at a high-quality level, and with the lowest total cost. Key job responsibilities In partnership with design engineering, advanced manufacturing engineering, and supply chain partners, this individual will determine how we provide manufacturing services throughout the MSP organization. This position will provide manufacturing support and develop roadmaps throughout the entire product lifecycle and across multiple technical program teams. You will serve as a main point of contact between product engineering, program teams and manufacturing operations. You will lead cross-functional communications, and strategic planning for manufacturing a new product from prototype to volume production, determine KPIs, and drive cost-reduction initiatives. You must be obsessed with data, change management, creating mechanisms, and processes that increase velocity and enable our manufacturing and supply chain functions to deliver work, faster, independently, and with zero defects. As a senior member of the team you will be key in driving continuous improvement and maturation of manufacturing planning and execution processes and procedures. This role is an internal customer facing position and will require the ability to build relationships with Amazon development and operations teams and with senior leaders (up to Vice President). Responsibilities include: • Actively support and foster a culture of inclusion • Manage manufacturing and supply chain planning by aligning the business needs, competitive landscape, and understanding the programs technical needs and value drivers • Write roadmap and strategy documentation and ensure clear communication and coordination of product needs for engineering and operations teams • Measure and analyze supplier performance, innovate and improve, drive continuous improvements • Develop a supplier roadmap that incorporates the new technologies required to support the hardware product roadmap and business requirements. • Work with Engineering and Quality to identify and qualify robust suppliers – cost, lead time, quality, and reliability. • Develop and improve organizational processes to optimize the launch of new products • Provide On-Site support to new product launches in the factory and at customer sites • Manage, measure, and improve manufacturing process capability and quality at CM, ODM and suppliers • Develop and improve organizational processes to optimize the launch of new products and scale production • Design in manufacturability (DFx) on new designs of complex mechatronics solutions • Root cause customer impacting manufacturing issues and drive resolution • Identify and influence design choices to ensure our products are safe, reliable, and can be produced, deployed, and supported at Amazon scale • Collaborate with development, supply chain, and operations teams to identify, manage and reduce risks on supply, process, and manufacturing of parts, sub-assemblies, and top-level assemblies A day in the life Collaborate with cross functional MSP teams to create and deliver a technical manufacturing strategy for complex machines and related sub-tier suppliers.
