**Job Summary and Qualifications**
GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
The President of Hospital Based Services (HBS) and Hospital Medicine Operations is responsible for the leadership of HCA’s clinician emergency and hospital medicine services company, including quality and clinical performance, achievement of financial goals, management of employed physicians and advanced practice professionals and administrative staff, development and oversight of new programs, coordination, and building trust through communication and collaboration that develops a performance oriented culture based on accountability.
Working with Group, Division, and facility CEOs, CMOs and CFOs throughout HCA, this individual will be expected to provide executive level leadership, strategic direction and guidance to HCA leaders and other company officers specific to emergency and hospital medicine quality, operations, and business development. This individual will lead the implementation of emergency and hospitalist programs that will reduce mortality and complications for patients, improve financial outcomes of hospitals, and enhance compliance with established guidelines for emergency room and inpatient hospitalist care.
+ Fully responsible for the operations, quality, and financial performance of all employed emergency and hospital medicine programs.
+ Be familiar with all existing Group, Division, Legal, Compliance, Financial, Quality departments and be able to communicate and work effectively at all levels within HCA.
+ Accountable for achieving the financial (revenue and margin) targets in compliance with budget constraints and/or in response to unanticipated revenue/margin challenges or opportunities; in managing the cost of the business (General and Administrative expenses) in compliance with budget constraints and/or revenue limitations and/or opportunities.
+ Build and lead a high performance service teams; and a high-performance workplace culture that contributes to a high level of employee satisfaction, employee retention, and client satisfaction.
+ Ensure the right prioritization of, and delivery of consistent, timely, and effective process improvement initiatives sufficient to positively impact the performance of the Intensivist practice environment.
+ Effectively frame business issues and inspire collaboration with all team members across all HCA Healthcare entities as well as customers/clients.
+ Be familiar with existing and prospective HCA joint ventures for emergency and hospital medicine services and lead efforts to evaluate and develop new relationships or expand existing relationships.
+ Be a subject matter expert specific to the clinical and quality initiatives specific to HCA emergency and inpatient hospital care and be able to speak knowledgeably to both the internal and external market dynamics for emergency and inpatient hospital care national trends
+ Assist and coordinate emergency and inpatient hospital care services and clinicians with GME requirements specific to the medical education training initiative.

DUTIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO (in addition to the above):
+ Drive strategic and operational engagement as well as financial accountability across the clinician emergency and hospital medicine service line. Develop, measure and manage performance to differentiate through highest quality customer service and outcomes
+ Fully responsible for the operations, quality, and financial performance of all employed emergency and hospital medicine programs
+ To provide subject matter expertise across the clinical, quality, operational and financial parameters that contribute to a successful emergency medicine and hospital medicine practice.
+ Deliver a consistent and tenacious focus on the optimization of the business
+ Active participation in business development endeavors
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: This position requires the following minimum requirements:
+ Ability to present to facility, division, group and corporate leadership teams in a professional manner using written and verbal skills
+ Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
+ Working knowledge of JCAHO & specialty specific quality reporting platforms (ACEP, SHM, AGMA, etc)
+ Experience with quality reporting systems
+ Knowledge of hospital and physician compensation models
+ Deep experience in designing clinical processes and key performance indicators
+ Experience negotiating compensation arrangements with physicians
+ Service orientation with business partners
+ Demonstrated success in working within a matrixed environment where influence over authority prevails
+ Developing credible working relationships with Corporate leaders, Group Presidents, HCA Physician Services (PS) President and Group Vice Presidents, Division Presidents, CFOs, CMOs and Hospital CEOs, CFOs, CMOs and COOs to assess and integrate Intensivist services across clinical, quality, cost and operational services to best support the HCA strategic goals and the Facilities’ operational objectives to include a focus on optimizing HBP subsidy spendUse and develop sophisticated processes and procedures to gather and analyze critical information required to perform Intensivist consults.
+ Working closely with CSG team members to present comprehensive recommendations to Hospitals and Divisions, always being cognoscente that recommendations are made in a consulting role and not as an operator and that final decision remain with the Division and the Hospitals involved
+ Negotiates complex agreements.
+ Is acutely aware of the critical timing of the processes involved and the implications of Stark l Stark ll Legislation and Regulations and its restrictions and limitations
+ Works closely with Compliance, Business Development and Legal Operations Counsel on all engagements as needed
+ Writes contract terms for legal ops review. Works with Hospital as needed on complex implementation plans
+ Serve as an important link during critical transition of vendors to avoid disruption of Hospital services
+ Interacts with physicians and advance practice professionals to ensure their practice business needs are met
+ Travel: up to 25%.
+ Technical skills: Proficient in Microsoft Outlook and PowerPoint. Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
EDUCATION: Doctor of Medicine (MD), Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO), MHA or MBA
Qualifications:
+ 15 years’ experience in healthcare management
+ A minimum of 10 years’ experience in a leadership role including practice management Experience with integrated hospital based service lines preferred
