The University of Saskatchewan (USask) is one of the top research-intensive, medical doctoral universities in Canada. USask is home to over 26,000 students, supported by a $1-billion annual budget and more than 7,000 dedicated faculty and staff. Guided by the ambition of its strategic plan to “Be What the World Needs”, USask has been unlocking the potential of individuals who seek to make meaningful contributions to their communities and the world since its founding in 1907.

A member of Canada’s U15 Group of Universities, USask is home to world-leading research in areas of global importance, such as water and food security and infectious diseases. Study and discovery are enhanced by USask’s outstanding facilities, including the Canadian Light Source synchrotron, the Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization (VIDO), the Global Institute for Food Security, the Global Institute for Water Security and the Sylvia Fedoruk Canadian Centre for Nuclear Innovation.

USask has a deep commitment to working in partnership with Indigenous communities to support reconciliation, embrace Indigenous ways of knowing, and advance Indigenous success. Guided by its foundational principle of Indigenization, USask is dedicated to meaningful actions that honour Indigenous self-determination, culture, and education.

USask’s main campus is located in Saskatoon on Treaty 6 Territory and the traditional Homeland of the Métis. Saskatoon, situated along the banks of the South Saskatchewan River, is a vibrant, livable city known for its natural beauty, friendly community, and diverse cultural and leisure offerings. Although Saskatoon is the largest urban centre in the province with a population of more than 300,000, its residents enjoy short commute times and some of the lowest housing costs in the country. The city enjoys over 2,000 hours of sunshine a year, making it one of the sunniest cities in Canada.

With an ambitious vision for the University’s future, the next President of the University of Saskatchewan will champion academic and research excellence, foster a culture of innovation and inclusion, and strengthen the University’s role as a catalyst for change. An inspiring and collaborative leader, the President will be an advocate for USask on the national and global stage. With a demonstrated track record of success in leadership, the President will be a passionate advocate for the University externally while serving as a visible and approachable leader within the campus community.
