Prepress Technician - Winston-Salem Merchandising and Display
Summary:
The Prepress Technician is responsible for the prepress workflow and coordination of any new item from submission of job through prep, stepping the files for plates/Nozomi and ensuring quality control methods are followed; also communicating with PPMs, sales, customer service and production to ensure production success and full customer satisfaction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
Responsible for daily communication with project managers, pressroom, separators, and plate room on the progression of all new jobs through prepress.Responsible for creating jobs and uploading files into prepress interface.Responsible for prep of all 1-up native and press ready customer files.Responsible for plotting/sending pdfs/proofs for customer approvals.Responsible for stepping 1-up files to manufacturing cad files for printing.Responsible for creating blanket cut files for coating blankets.Responsible for plotting mylars for offset printing.Responsible for quality check of 1-up and stepped graphic/blanket files.Inform Prepress Supervisor/Prepress Manager of any concerns that arise with production.Responsible for the overall safety and cleanliness of equipment and area.Work in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with company policy and procedures.Overtime may be required for the department.Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or GED minimum. Must have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in prepress.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. May require the ability to write routine reports and correspondence. May require the ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have proficient experience with Micro Soft Suite and Mac programs.
Other Qualifications
Must have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, time management skills and be a self-starter.
