**Employment Type:** Full time **Shift:** Day Shift **Description:** **Position Purpose:** At **Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center** , the Pre-Operative Screening RN plays a vital role in preparing patients for surgeries to be performed in the Main and Ambulatory Operating Rooms. This nurse primarily conducts comprehensive preoperative assessments via phone, coordinating with anesthesia and surgical teams to ensure patients are medically optimized for surgery. This role supports patient safety, reduces surgical delays, and enhances the overall surgical experience. **What You Will Do:** + Perform telephonic preoperative assessments, including medical history reviews, medication reconciliation, and risk screening. + Coordinate with anesthesia, surgeons, and primary care providers to ensure patients are cleared and optimized for surgery. + Educate patients on pre-surgical instructions and expectations. **Minimum Qualifications:** **Required** : + Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Associate’s Degree or higher). + Active RN license in the state of Connecticut. **Preferred:** + Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). + The ideal candidate will have one or more years of perioperative or general surgical experience. + Ability to practice in alignment with AORN (Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses) recommended standards and guidelines. + BLS certification (American Heart Association or American Red Cross).
