Preconstruction Manager
Job Description DSI is seeking an experienced licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in mechanical engineering who is ready to take the next step in their career — transitioning from consulting design into construction leadership. This position offers a rare opportunity for a technically accomplished engineer to move vertically into a Preconstruction Manager role, gaining hands-on influence over how complex, high-technology projects are priced, planned, and executed. As part of DSI’s preconstruction team, this individual will bridge design intent and real-world execution—translating engineering solutions into constructible, cost-effective outcomes. You’ll collaborate directly with clients, estimators, and project managers to shape strategy, scope, and success from concept through proposal. The ideal candidate brings strong mechanical design and project leadership experience, along with a passion for seeing engineering concepts come to life in the field. This role provides a natural path for growth, expanding your technical expertise into project strategy, business development, and construction management—particularly within the semiconductor and pharmaceutical sectors. Essential Responsibilities · Lead and manage estimating activities across multiple concurrent projects, ensuring timely completion of bids and coordination of internal pre-bid meetings. · Solicit, evaluate, and select proposals from subcontractors, vendors, and trade partners to ensure optimal value and alignment with project scope. · Prepare detailed and comprehensive proposals, including project scope, pricing, clarifications, and exclusions. · Review mechanical system designs (ductwork, piping, and plumbing) for constructability, cost efficiency, and compliance with industry standards. · Perform conceptual estimating and bridge design gaps during schematic and design development phases. · Prepare and submit pre-bid RFIs and lead management review meetings prior to bid submission. · Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, engineers, and trade partners to promote long-term collaboration and trust. We are a company committed to creating diverse and inclusive environments where people can bring their full, authentic selves to work every day. We are an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer that believes everyone matters.
