Job Summary
We are looking for a Powertrain Development Engineering Intern to join our team for the fall of 2025. The Intern will work alongside a small team of engineers and technicians supporting various customer testing programs within the dynamometer and vehicle emissions test laboratories. The ideal candidate must show a capacity to quickly assimilate and understand the implications of new developments and be ready to respond appropriately to situations as they evolve. This position is a paid internship and is located in Livonia, MI.

As a Powertrain Development Engineering Intern, you will be responsible for:
Provide a supporting role for a variety of customer based automotive engineering and testing projects while developing skills to successfully take the project to completionAssist with coordinating internal support activities which include dynamometer and emissions testing, machine shop, engine build, fabrication and garage servicesCarry out engine dynamometer and vehicle-based emissions testing and support related program activities (engine setup, implementation of data acquisition and reporting systems, data review, engine teardown analysis, etc.)Support component and system design activities as neededPrepare and deliver technical reports and presentations as part of documentation for program reviewsReview and process dynamometer test cell and engine ECU dataDiagnose engine and dynamometer hardware/control issues and verify proper functionalityManage inventory of engine components and related test hardwareSeek and employ continuous improvement strategies for increased quality and through-putAssist with customer correspondencesTo be considered as a Powertrain Development Engineering Intern, you will need:
Must be currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical, or automotive engineeringMust be available for the summer semester of 2025 and be able to work a 40 hour work week Monday through FridayStrong MS Excel experienceMust have a minimum sophomore standingMust have a valid driver’s licenseWillingness to travel and/or work overtime upon requestA strong desire to learn and execute base engine/vehicle testing and systems integrationMust have a hands-on automotive background with a desire to work with engines and controlsAbility to perform effectively in a team environment with customers, engineers, designers, lab technicians, mechanics, machinists and engine buildersDemonstrate excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skillsMust be self-motivated and possess rapid problem-solving skills with ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneouslyMust have U.S. citizenshipA successful candidate may also have:
