Responsible for performing major inspections and depot- level maintenance and repair and overhaul of diesel engines, ancillary equipment and power generating equipment. Performs difficult repair of diesel engines, generators, centrifuges, turbochargers, rectifiers, inverters, and associated generating and distribution equipment. Duties will include engine and generating equipment rebuild and repair, major tune-ups, engine alignment, accessory equipment repairs and testing or repaired equipment prior to resumption of normal service. Bench checks repairable components, subassemblies, and solid-slate components by using test equipment standards, load components, subassemblies, and solid- state components by using test equipment standards, load banks and other equipment as may be required by technical data. Determines extent of repair or rebuilding and accomplishes same. Tests repaired gauges and meter to assure adequacy and reliability. Interprets maintenance malfunction data related to electrical power generating systems. Responsible for the upkeep of tools and equipment in his or her custody. Performs other duties as assigned.

* High School Education or equivalent. Completion of an electrical power production course. Journeyman diesel mechanic experience of not less than five (5) years of stationary diesel engines, one year of which will be on diesel engines of 1000 hp or larger. Must possess a valid state driver’s license. Must have and wear hard-toed safety shoes which meet ASTM F2413-05 standards when entering industrial areas. Successful candidate will be subject to a government security investigation and must continually meet eligibility requirements for access to all areas of Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay. * High School Education or equivalent. Completion of an electrical power production course.
