Power Generation Engineer
Job Title: Power Generation EngineerJob Description We are seeking a Power Generation Engineer to support the development of the Navy's next generation Nuclear Power Generation Systems. This critical role is essential for ensuring the dominance of the seas and safety of our sailors. You will be responsible for planning, analyzing, and reporting on turbine generators as part of this significant program. Responsibilities + Support the design and development of the CLB IPS electrical system, including generation and distribution of all electrical power. + Develop and control systems for all power generation components. + Focus on the design and development of turbine generators, particularly on the generator side. + Work on turbine generator controlling systems. + Collaborate closely with Naval Reactors, PMS 397, the shipbuilder, and component vendors on detailed design requirements to ensure the highest standards are maintained. + Ensure all design criteria are satisfied in the production units. Essential Skills + Current or active Secret clearance is required. + Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer Engineering or related field such as Physics. + Minimum of three years' experience in the design of military or commercial power generation systems. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Five years’ experience in the maintenance, operation, and issue resolution of power generation systems is highly desired. + Naval Nuclear Propulsion experience on Virginia class submarines, at a Prototype or Nuclear shipyard is highly desired. + Three years’ experience with magnetic bearings as applied to power generation systems. + Travel requirement of 10% may be required. Work Environment This role offers a hybrid work environment with three days a week onsite at WNY, subject to Navy discretion. A travel requirement of 10% to locations such as Sunnyvale, CA, Philadelphia, PA, and Groton, CT may be expected. You will be working in a team environment with mostly ex-navy veterans and retirees, providing a supportive atmosphere that values camaraderie and collaboration. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $72.11 - $76.92/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
